Members request an email sent to them when a new or update post is posted on our Board so they do not have to keep checking in. Is that possible, if so how do we do it?

You need to tell them to bookmark the thread then go to BOARDURL.proboards.com/?action=managebookmarksand select the type of notification to be an email

But they would have to go log in to the Message Board to bookmark the post. This would not alert them on their email that New post are ready to read.

I have the same question as lionelsnipes. My members are also asking how they can get e-mail notifications of new activity on my forum board.
I'm unclear about "bookmarking"? Does this work?

Hopefully this'll clarify things.
Bookmarking a topic will notify the user when there is a new post made in that topic, either by PM or email, depending on what they set their preferences to.
However, it isn't possible to receive a notification when a new topic is made on the board.

Perhaps this may work for us... we are a 60 unit condominium, the purpose of the Message Board is for the Condo Association Board of Directors to post Notices and the condo owners (members) to post messages (just two forums), SO if the Topic stays the same, example Notices, then each owner (member) could bookmark the topic to get emails... as long as the Topic is not changed.
Am I on the right track?

Yeah theres the same thing requested on my forum too boot. Since it is a car forum people that are on there are wanting emails sent out to threads they started and / or find of interest. This works better for Vendors of after market part companies, people selling car parts or other random craptastic, just like any other car forum. Like most people involved w/ the internet and forum based sites. no one wants to have to log into a forum to see if they have any new messages or if there is any replies made to a thread they are following. This effect reminds me of snail mail days when I use o write letters to loved ones back home. Thus, being counter production and taking advantage of technologies advancements.

oh and that thing at the top
"These are the most recent topics you have participated in:"
that is the most overjoyed thing in the world, no one wants to use anything like that. it's simply tacky as all get out and could be misconstrued as a cross thus forcing religious views upon people of different faiths or have agnostic views. But this your bbq and has nothing to do w/ me in that matter. ;p
