Message from the League Against Cruel Sports: On Friday 18th February, it’ll be six years since the Hunting Act came into force. Since then, more than 150 people have been prosecuted and convicted of animal cruelty under that Act, and it continues to go from strength to strength. To show your support for the Hunting Act, we want you to change your profile picture on Facebook to one of our three ‘Happy Birthday Hunting Act’ avatars. Each one depicts a different animal – you can choose from a hare, a deer or a fox. Just right click on the one you prefer below, save it to your computer, and then upload it to Facebook. Easy! www.league.org.uk/content.ASpx?CategoryID=552

Hi Søren
I agree the law isn't perfect - but no law ever is.
There's no denying however, that it has had an impact on the barbaric ripping apart of screaming, live foxes by a pack of hounds twice their size.....
Edit: In the name of "sport" ??!

I guess. But there is a hunt that goes to the woods local to me. they follow scent supposedly but they cant stop the dogs killing other animal they find or actual fox. Not that they care. They just want another head to mount or body to stuff. It one thing i hate about English countryside. They all love killing to much ): I would put the image on face book but i dont have one

We have the same problem where I live....
They have little control over the hounds when it comes down to it....they are let loose and the horses run after them....if the hounds kill a fox, a rabbit, a cat or - as has sometimes been reported - somebody's pet dog being walked by it's owner - the hunters just claim it was "an accident"......sorry not good enough
If I let just one dangerous dog loose and it attacks - I can be prosecuted.....so what's different about hunters? (apart from them only having one brain cell)?

I never understand hunting for sport or the people that hunt I get it traditional doesnt make it right. From a rider point of view it is dangerous for me to ride when a hunt is out. They charge and it gets my horse over excited and likely to bolt. I cant ride if hunt is going and theres risk the dogs would attack me. Hunting horses are not look after that well either. at least not at the yard where the ones I know are at.

They think they have the right to trespass on other people's land too. I once had to dive for my car when a pack of hounds came arount the bend on a public road I was standing on.....they were totally out of control and in a frenzy

Yayy!!! Happy Birthday Hunting Act! I wish they'd do something like this in the US. It's such a great idea!

we have dog hunters near where i live... i hate those people, though. i can't say every dog hunter is like them, though, but the people here are cruel.
their dogs are outside in tiny cages all year round, - degree weather, rain, storm, whatever. the dogs are stuck in the cages until they let them out to go hunt. that is all the life they have. eat, sleep, eat, sleep. that's it. then if they're lucky, i guess they can get some exercise only to please the same cruel idiots who treat them like garbage.
:/ that's my take on it, anyways. as i said, don't know what dog hunters do everywhere. those people should be the ones stuck in cages for what they've done to those poor dogs. :[
