NEW Forum URL: msfitness.proboards.com/OLD but used to be: msfitness.proboards15.com/As I went to change the links from my main site to the new proboards URL it hit me: I have a hundred or so links from my own sites. Then, there are the random people who link onto my forum. Can the old URL be restored and kept? This is going to be a nightmare if I have to go in and change each and every link into the forum.

Hi If anyone clicks the old url, they are met with an advisory message pointing them to the new one, which reads: This forum's URL has changed. Please update your bookmarks to msfitness.proboards.comThat message will remain for two weeks. Have you make an announcement on your forum informing your members that they need to update their bookmarks.? Correcting the url in a few places is perhaps all you'll need to do as word will get around, especially with the redirection link mentioned. Also, you can mentioned it in your signature on other forums.

On my own sites, I have hundreds of links - it is at the bottom of each and every page of my 7 sites. And, I am barely literate in the gui I use to create the pages and I will have to manually change each link and reload each and every page. A daunting task.
Is it a possibility to have the old URL?

Use your censored words to fix it.
Make an entry that changes "proboards15.com" to "proboards.com"

Go to msfitness.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=censoredwordsUnder the "Censor Word" area, add "msfitness.proboards15.com" and under the "Replacement Word" area, add "msfitness.proboards.com" Everyone that links to your forum, will have to update their link to reflect the new address as well.

The old ProBoards URLs (the ones with numbers in) have not been officially used in many years now.
For the time since then we have had an auto redirect in place and the old style urls have been impossible to use. All posts, logins, registrations etc have gone to the version without the number.
As it has been several years we have now moved to the next step of decommissioning them by putting an explicit message stating that the links should be updated.
