- I need help, what do I do?
Before posting a thread asking for help, make sure you are posting in the correct board. This board is for help with codes, so if you think you are needing help with a code, post a new thread in here.
When posting a new thread, always include the link to your forum URL, although you may have the URL in your mini profile or signature, we can't be sure that is the right URL, so to aid in a quicker response to your question, always include it along with a detailed description of the problem.

- Where do I place codes?
Nearly all codes found in the database should state clearly where they need to be placed. Depending on how the code is created, it should go either in the Global header or footer, or Main header or footer. There should never really be a need to add a code into all the board headers or footers, the Global header and footer does that job.
If you are still unsure where to place the code, just post a new thread asking, but please make sure you have read the whole post from where you got the code.

- What can I do if a code has messed my forum up?
There might come a time when your forum becomes messed up, and you can't get access to some pages like the headers and footers. There are a few reasons as to why this could happen, most common is that you didn't add the code correctly. People seem to be quick to put the blame on the creator of the code, but in most instances, it is down to user error.
Now, there are a few ways to go about doing it, but I will just provide you with the easiest way for you, and that would be using the "noheaders" GET variable in the address bar. The way it works is that server side looks for this variable, if it exists and the value is 1, then it will load a forum page without the headers loading.
Example:
If you needed to remove a code from your headers or footers, but you cannot access them, you would do this...
Main header & footer:
username.proboardsX.com/index.cgi?action=headersfooters2&id=-&NOHEADERS=1
Global header & footer:
username.proboardsX.com/index.cgi?action=headersfooters2&id=*&NOHEADERS=1
By adding "&NOHEADERS=1" onto the end of the URL, you will now be able to access those pages. This applies to any page on your forum such as enabling you to login.
If you need further help, post a thread.

- Can I use a code to remove the ads?
No!, if you remove the ads of your forum by other means apart from paying, then you have violated the ProBoards ToS which means that your forum will be deleted.

- Can I remove the copyright from a code?
Nope, not without permission from the creator of the code. Copyrights are there to give credit to the coder, some of the codes found in the database take a long time to create, so it is only right that the creator adds a copyright. If you remove a copyright from a code, you will be reported, which could lead to your forum being deleted.

- Can I repost codes at another forum?
Not without permission from the creator of the code. Some codes specifically specify where the code is allowed to be posted, but when in doubt always ask. If you trying to help someone who needs a code and it isn't in the database here, link them to it, but let them know if they need to login/register to view it.

- What order should the codes be in?
There isn't really a set order they go in, but sometimes if a code is conflicting with another, you can try reordering them, this has been known to help quite a few people. Usually there will be instructions in the post which you got the code from, otherwise if you are experiencing problems, just post a thread here.

- How do I create sub sub boards?
This question has came up a few times now, and the answer is that you can't create sub sub boards, or sub boards that go as deep as you like. Although there were a few codes to do it, they have been banned. If Pat wanted to allow the user to have sub boards as deep as they like, then he would have done it. For those wondering why we have a sub sub board, this was done server side by Martyn for a reason.

- How do I remove a menu button from the menu bar?
A common mistake is that people think you need a code to do this, when in fact it can be done from the admin panel. To do it, all you need is to get a transparent 1x1 pixel image (ask in the graphics request board), then goto...
Admin -> Skins / Forum Colors -> Customize Images
Now look for the menu button you wish to remove, then just add the transparent image url there.

- How do I move the welcome table below the ad?
Use this code in your Global headers...
<div id="wel"></div>
<script type="text/javascript"> <!--
var welcomeTable = document.getElementsByTagName("table").item(0); document.getElementById("wel").appendChild(welcomeTable);
//--> </script>
It is important to note that this code does not actually move the advert, it only moves the welcome table. It is also worth mentioning that the ads cannot be moved to the bottom of the page, that would be a TOS violation.

- Is it Possible to use more Rank Stars/Images?
If you want to use more than four rank images, you need to first of all go to either "Modify Rankings" or "Modify Group". Set the Stars as 0 then use this as the Group/Rank Name:
Group Name[br][img]Image URL
[/img] To use more than one image repeat this part, [im g] Image URL[/img] [/li][/ul]

- How can I hide the post area in one board?
First of all, the post area refers to this part of the page - [Click]
If you want to remove this for any reason, then add these two lines of code. Make sure you put them in the board header/footer and not the main or global header/footer.
Board Header Board Footer <div style="display:none;"> </div>
