- Can I increase the signature character limit?
There is no code to increase the number of characters you can use in your signature, the limit is built into the forum itself. However, there is a 'workaround' by using the censored words list. You can use the censored words list to convert a word or two into a full signature.
As the 'Censor Word' use a unique word for your signature. For example, '#ross_sig#' Then as the corresponding 'Replacement Word' put the code to make up your signature. For example, 'Spammers feed from responses, DON'T FEED THE SPAMMERS! '
So then by putting '#ross_sig#' as my signature, would make 'Spammers feed from responses, DON'T FEED THE SPAMMERS!' appear in it's place

- Can I put a border around my forum?
A few people have been inquiring as to how they can encase their forum inside a table to give a border-like effect. Examples of sites which do this are SSD and Temporal Reality. Well in actual fact it is a relatively simple process. Just put the following pieces of code in your Global Header and Footer.
Global Header
<table width="92%" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing ="0"> <tr> <td style="background-image: url('Head' Image URL); height: 25px;" vAlign="bottom"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="background-image: url(Main Background Image URL);">
Global Footer
</td> </tr> <tr> <td style="background-image: url('Foot' Image URL); height: 20px;"> </td> </tr> </table>

- Change the Color of Horizontal Rules (Lines) in Posts
A recent update to the ProBoards software has changed the color of the horizontal rules, they are the black lines that appear above and below this post. There have always been there but are just now more visable. To change their color, you can add this code to your Global Header. Change the bits in red with the new HEX color you would like to use:
<style type="text/css"> <!-- hr { color: #FFFFFF!important; background-color: #FFFFFF!important; } --> </style>

- How to find the 'Skin ID'
There are a number of ways you can find the ID of a skin on your form. I find this is the simplest method though:
- Go to modify your profile. Select the skin you want to find the ID of and click 'Save Changes'.
- Next, copy this into your address bar (where you normally type URLs):
javascript:alert(pb_skinid);
- Press the Enter/Return key. The skin ID is the number that appears in the pop-up.

Note: there is now a "Link to post" feature under every post, so you shouldn't need to follow the instructions below anymore, but we will keep it anyway - Linking to a Certain Post
Many people seem to have trouble linking to a certain post since the upgrade to v4. This is because to link to a particular post you must use the Post ID
/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=boardID&thread=threadID&post=postID
That is the general layout to go to a particular post. The board and thread IDs are easy enough to find, they are already in the pages URL, see this pages URL as an example, the board ID is codesupport and the thread ID is 1124987416
Now, to find the post ID you must quote the post, so just click the 'quote' button. Then, in the post area you will see something that looks like this:

Linking to a Certain Post
[/blockquote] The bit I've highlighted in red, is the Post ID. So to link to this post, we would use: /index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=codesupport&thread=1124987416&post=1136318021If you wish the link to open in the same window rather than a new window, (as in the first post of the Code Index) use the [link=URL]Text[/link] UBBC tag. [/li][/ul]

- How can I add another row of menu text links?
Place this code into your global header.
<script type="text/javascript"> <!--
function insertTxtLink(l, t, n){ var nCell = document.getElementsByTagName("td").item(5);
if(!arguments.callee.done || n){ nCell.firstChild.appendChild(document.createElement("br")); arguments.callee.done = true; }
if(l && t){ var link = document.createElement("a"); var txt = document.createTextNode("[" + t + "]");
link.href = l; link.appendChild(txt); nCell.firstChild.appendChild(document.createTextNode(" ")); nCell.firstChild.appendChild(link); } }
insertTxtLink("http://proboards.com", "ProBoards");
//--> </script>
To add a link, you need to call the insertTxtLink function, which supports 3 arguments.
insertTxtLink(Link, Text, New Line);
The 3rd argument is optional (blue). If you wish to add another line of links, just pass "true".
Like this...
insertTxtLink("http://proboards.com", "ProBoards"); insertTxtLink("http://google.com", "Goole", true);

- Can I have a different skin on just one board?
Yes, with the use of CSS. You can use the generator found here to produce the necessary code for you. Then, in the Header of the board you want it to apply to, insert:
<style type="text/css"> <!-- CSS Code From the Generator Here --> </style>
