Hey there, I'm London. -waves- I was wondering if all you fine people could give me some constructive criticism with my newly made Proboards role playing site. You may clock the link here, or in my signature. All of the graphics are made by me for the Forbidden, NY site... so please no sticky fingers.

Layout Your layout is very different from a lot of forums which is fine. It's nice to see a change once in awhile. For just starting out it seems you have way too many boards and have too many empty boards. Having too many boards can drive off guests because they feel overwhelmed while have empty boards can make your site look inactive and dead. Minimize the amount of boards you have for the time being and slowly add more boards as you grow. Your forum is lacking color. I suggest basing your colors off of your banner to add a splash of color. Very few forums can pull of the default colors.
Images Your bg for your menu icons is really impressive. I also like the simplicity of your banner. It fits great with your site. The rest of the site is somewhat lacking in images. You should look for some gradients for your category bg and your info center. It will add some flare and originality to it. You definitley need a bg image or color for your site. The white is very boring on the eyes. Maybe you could use a pic of New York at night like you have in your banner?
Codes It took awhile for me to finally get to the boards with the storyline right there. You might want to try a welcome table where the story can scroll across and take up a fraction of the room. It will also help with your important links you have underneath your storyline so they're easier to see.
Other You definitely need to affiliate with other sites more. Advertising is key to any site's success. Don't just affiliate with sites of the same genre. There could be some who are on a baseball fan site who would love to be apart of your site as well. The other thing I noticed was that it does take a little longer to load your site than others. It might be because you have too many images on the main page. You can leave the images, but maybe have them only show up on the main page so members can easily move around the site without sitting waiting for their computers to load.
Overall 6.5/10 It's a great idea and you have some nice images, but the main part of your site is lacking in color and originality. Spice it up with some colors and graphics and you'll be set.

Thank you SO much for your input, and I will take many of the things you said into serious consideration. A lot of it is very helpful and I appreciate it. I was thinking of having a background and such eventually, but haven't been able to make or find one I really liked.
However, I will make a lot of changes so it is easier for members to access, but as for the boards almost every one has been requested... just not being used at the moment.

Okies, here goes
Layout Wow, I haven't seen a site like this. Good job with originality. The plot/rules etc bit at the bottom of the banner was a bit hard to find. Maybe move it up a bit so its more visible? The background isn't something I would put but it does work. There really isn't muvh that I can add to this, except good job.
The c-box matches well with the rest of the site. Nothing looks more off than a site with an odd looking c-box. Good job there.
Another good thing, is that I am able to read the site information without being forced to highlight it either.
Boards You certainly have alot of boards! I do think that however it doesn't look bad in your case. But I wouldn't add anymore to it either. I don't mind sub-boards myself, but they aren't particularly attractive either.
Rules Simple and not too many. I am pleased to say, nothing is more annoying then reading pages of rules that are basically common sense. However, having three separate threads of rules is a bit of a pain to look through one, then open up the next. Why not have them on the same post? Or even the same thread if you wanted to separate them?

BUMP
Thanks for your input, but I love the rules being separated in the way that they are. I have come to find that when people break a rule, I know which ones they've read and which ones they haven't. Saying, "please re-read the 'Creating a Character' rules again." instead of "PLease read the rules again." is a lot more helpful for the member in the long run.

Well, I was looking for boards to rate and I happened to take a look at this thread, but I think once I checked out your board, it pretty much cinched it. Here goes!
BANNER
I liked the banner. Although it's a bit smaller than I'm used to, I still like the color and the cityscape. The one thing I noticed about it was that "Forbidden" was spelled wrong...it took me a while to catch it though. I'd say either change it or go with it until someone else catches it.
WELCOMETABLE
It seems like side tables aren't as uncommon as I thought! Still...
I really liked the image. For whatever reason, it reminds me of the Tokyo level in Timesplitters 2 (don't worry if you don't get that. It's a good thing. ) I also liked how it was consistent with the "New York <3" in every table header and how the colors were consistent with the rest of the forum. Good job!
Oh, and one more thing: good job on the disclaimer. It sucks that something like that happened to you, and it's good that you have it up there.
OVERALLFORUMLOOK
CONSISTENCY! THANK GOD! I can't tell you how many forums I've rated that are inconsistent with their color scheme! I love how there are only three colors...and that's it. No pink, no red, no other colors besides blue, black and white! YAY!
Anyway, I think that there's a cool entropy about your forum that you don't often see.
BOARDORGANIZATION
As far as organization goes, it's pretty much the standard on sites I've seen like this. Still, that doesn't mean it's boring or anything. I do like how the board descriptions are explicit so that people know exactly what's in the board. Good job!
RULES
I liked the rules. They were straightforward and explicit, which is a strong point. I was a little put off by the rule that said "The word of the Administrator and staff is law." The only suggestion I have would be to reword that rule to say something along the lines of "Follow the rules at all times. If you have an issue, please PM a staff member rather than arguing in the forum." Something like that. I wasn't, however, too put off by it, so I wouldn't take this suggestion too seriously.
FINALCALL
Overall, I think you have a really good forum. The particular genre of forum you have might be getting worn a bit thin, but I think yours has potential if you work on it. I was happy to find that the only major hang-up I had was with the title of your forum being misspelled in your banner but other than that, great job!
