Hi, My first impression:Fair but almost good. (rate=Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, Excellent) I like the color of green in the background but I'm not so sure I like it as a background. I just kind of reminds me of something dirty and I want to wipe my screen. LOL O.K. so I'm a clean freak. Also I noticed the repeat line so I decided to make a Seamless Version if you care to use it. Please save as and rehost if you do. Or a little more texture? With that said, I can see the background does work with your banner which too looks kind of old with flecks of stuff on it. The second thing that I noticed was the uneven menu buttons or maybe the text on the button wasn't put in the same location. Maybe until you can get the menu buttons redone you could just set your forum to text. Admin, General, text menus to "yes". And lastly, I noticed was the different sizes of everything. (Welcome table, Google ad, main table and forum are all different sizes. (See coding below) Banner Good I like it and it matches your background pretty nicely. I can't read the text under the title unless I really look close and then I'm not sure I'm reading it right because it doesn't make sense to me. ?? That could easily be blacked out and new text that is readable used? Layout and themeFair Not a fan of the pm bar just because it repeats what is already in the welcome table (register and login). The date anyone can easily check on their computer and it just is less clutter if the PM is in the menu row. I understand everyone is using the PM bar right now but another option would be to use one of these codes for putting it in your menu. I'm glad you have a table with info regarding your site. I like the colorful names but I don't like you have such a stretch of font sizes. Some things are huge like Professor and Staff, and then huge titles and then tiny names. Maybe just go one size up for the name of the staff and then one more size up for Professor and Staff. I don't mind most of your colors. They are cheerful. But the pure white text against the pure black background is hard on the eyes. Just by making the black a dark gray (383838) makes a difference. See samples: Pure black, pure white Dark gray, pure white - as you can see it is just a bit easier on the eyes, softer and not so harsh a contrast. Content:Fair I give you a fair because you have way too many boards. It makes one scroll and most people hate to scroll. Maybe rather than having each floor as a category just have a category named Floors and then make First floor a board with the boards you have now as sub-boards. Although your load time is pretty good you will find it much faster to load if you tuck away some of the boards. I tried to look for spelling and grammatical errors but I just couldn't read long looking at that white text in your descriptions. CodingGood There is a error in IE and in FF and it is caused by the Post as Alias code. You need to remove this code as it is no longer compatible with ProBoards. Located in your Global Footers. To read about it: support.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=coderequests&action=display&thread=291281You also have this code in twice in your Global Footers: You need to remove one. <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- // Remove Last Edit
if(location.href.match(/&thread=/)){ var geti = document.getElementsByTagName('i'); for(i=0;i<geti.length;i++){ if(geti[i].innerHTML == 'Last Edit:') geti[i].parentNode.style.display = 'none'; } } //--> </script> If you would like your forum and welcome table the same size as the banner you can change this for the welcome table to 728px. <script language="JavaScript"> var Table=document.getElementsByTagName("Table") for(t=0;t<Table.length;t++) if(Table[t].width=="92%"){Table[t].width="653"} </script> And for your forum size to 728px Global Footers <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- // Resize Forum Width var table = document.getElementsByTagName('table'); for(i=0;i<table.length;i++){ if(table[i].width=='92%'){ table[i].width='750'; } } //--> </script> You could then easily resize your banner in photobucket keeping the proportions. OverallGood I like your site. I can tell you have a great bunch of members. Everyone is joking and having fun in the chat box. I think you'll do well with your site. If there is anything I can clarify feel free to post. Best of luck to you and please excuse any errors in my rate as I was getting really sleepy trying to finish this.

You posted on my birthday. Heheh. Thank you for the comments! The skins were not up to me. Alas, I joined as an admin long after the other three had started the site, and I didn't have any control over the skins. I'll have to show Evan or Chris your post so they can take care of the coding and skins. I was in charge of one skin, which I made for New Year's... but it certainly didn't turn out the way I had wanted it, because it contrasted terribly with the group colours. I also had no control over the group colours. I must honestly agree that, at times, the current skin really irritates me, as well. The table, however, was of my creation. I certainly could change it around a bit, but I seem to be the only one keeping up with it... and, unfortunately, I don't have the time anymore -- I'm not just making excuses. Apparently, Salina updated the members once quite some time ago, but I've yet to hear of any more additions. I myself have been away from the Internet for a long time to deal with school and real life issues (hence the late reply), so I don't know what the status is on the other three admins in regards to activity. As for the boards, that obviously isn't up to me alone. I'll talk with Salina about your idea, because I'm sure it would make things a little easier, but she has a slow computer and I find it hard to get online lately, so there's no telling when it will happen (if it does). As for the PM bar, the same applies to coding -- I'll have to let Evan and Chris take a look at this. Spelling and grammatical errors? Do you not trust my English abilities? Actually, I went back and checked myself. Of course, no one is perfect, so I'm sure there are still a few mistakes I missed. But as for repeated and constant errors, I certainly hope there aren't any -- as I said, I checked everything as thoroughly as I could. Then again, it is a rather large site; I probably missed a few places altogether... I, myself, do stress grammar and spelling, and I care more about the threads than the board descriptions. Thank you for taking the time to rate the site! It really is appreciated, and your ideas will be taken into consideration by the others. - Sam

Hello! I'm Sarapha! The first thing I notice is your main banner, the text within it is really hard on the eyes, being so thin and all. Perhaps make the size a bit bigger, and make width bigger as well? Or, perhaps just make the section where the text is slightly bigger, then bold it? The second thing is your menu buttons. They aren't all on the same line. Some are raised a bit higher, and that bothers my eyes. Perhaps put them all at the same position? ICK! Size 1 font is VERY bad, especially for RPGs. Not only does it make it incredibly hard to read (detouring most people from joining), but it also creates way too much blank space. I highly highly highly highly recommend changing it back to the standard 12 pt so everyone can read it. In your welcome table, the scrolly parts should really have it set so that it pauses when the mouse hovers over it. As I'm attempting to read the plot, I'm finding myself unable to do so because of 1) the size of the font, and 2) the speed of how it is scrolling. The gaps you have between your catagories is very much too large. Perhaps make them several px smaller in height? I believe this is adding to the scrolling problem your site seems to face. Okay, below are some tips on your board Area. Kings Cross should be moved to the Muggle World, as it is a Muggle train station. The Castle should be condensed to one catagory with boards for each of the floors. You can do this easily by excluding the teacher's offices. By the looks of it, and with my prior knowledge of HPRPGs, teacher's offices don't get too much traffic through them. Just open the class board up so that people can post as though they are in the office as well as the classrooms, and it'll work out easily. Condensing the castle like that not only helps in the scrolling, but it also makes your site look loads more active because it hides the boards that don't have threads in them. 'Suggestions', Account problems', and 'Plotlines' should be one board, since they relate heavily with one another. Same thing for 'the sorting ceremony' and 'job applications'. This could help a lot in condensing. The catagory "CHARACTER INFORMATION!" should be deleted, and you should create a board in the 'GETTING STARTED!' board named "Character information". 'Character biographies' and 'Character personals/plots' should be moved to it. 'leave of absence' should be moved to the OOC board, as it is representing when the OOC person will be gone. The board 'housepoints hourglasses' is very unneeded, since you have the House Points posted above in the welcome table. It kind of looks like a useless area of board to me. "the lawns" and "the whomping willow", in my opinion, are pretty much poinless, as they are all the same thing. I think you can combine the "MUGGLE SHOPS!" and "MUGGLE WORLD!" into one board, perhaps named 'Muggle world". Having them separated is really pointless, since they are both parts of the Muggle world. You have FAR too many threads marked as announcements. This pushes down the RP boards that are posted, so you're likely to not have too much activity through them, seeing as the threads won't be seen. I recommend taking out 'term one yule ball', 'term one feast', 'term one job applications', 'winter poetry competition poll', and 'welcome to term one at CBtS!'. Make an Announcement's board, and place them in there. Send mass PM's every now and then, directing your members attention to the Announcement's board. You don't seem to have a celeb/face claim on your board. This is very important, especiall while your site has Original characters. You want to make sure that there aren't 3456734.533 people using Ashley Tisdale, or that there isn't a small army of Zac Efron's roaming around. Okay, I think that's all

Hahah. I'm tempted to start from scratch and make my own skin. People seem to find much fault in the current one, and sadly, I agree that it could use some modification. Of course, no one's perfect and the site is just starting out, so there's always plenty of room to experiment. Sadly, I had little control over the aspects of the current skin -- see my post above. As for the head table, I agree. Salina pasted the plot there, and I guess I forgot to go back and change the code. Maybe I'll have to get to Evan on that, since I seem to find it difficult to find Internet time... And the gap between categories could be lifted a bit. Separating them is lovely, but I suppose the amount of separation is a bit much. The Hourglasses board is for people to post House points. It may seem useless, but it avoids clutter in the admins' inbox (as members tend to ask a lot of questions) and also gives a public eye on how things are being scored, so the members don't think we're being partial or unfair. I'll have to talk to Salina about putting those boards together. I think maybe it would help, as well, in making the site a lot smaller and making things easier on people with slow computers or who just get annoyed. But the purpose of the offices was, mainly, to keep threads such as classroom sign-ups or rules separate from the actual lessons, and whatnot; it makes finding the work easier. Though we could always move professors' offices as sub-boards of a single board. Muggle Shops? I see a Muggle World and and Magical Shops. Perhaps you looked at it wrong? Or am I missing a detail? There are plenty of shops in the magical world, so we made the magical world a category on its own. And the Muggle World will most likely stay the way it is. Yes... I must say, having the Whomping Willow as its own board is probably a waste of space. I'll talk with Salina about either removing it or making it a sub-board of the lawns. I agree entirely on there being too many announcements, and I'm working on taking out some of them. I honestly hadn't thought of the announcements board, though; I'll most definitely look into that. Thanks. And we do have a celeb claim list -- it's in the graphics board of the out of character section. Thought now that I think about it, it should be moved to a board about the characters. There is a link in the welcome table, though... at least, there should be. Anyway, thanks for your comments! They are very much appreciated. - Sam

I know none of the aforementioned suggestions haven't been put into place, but I assure you, they will! Right now, I haven't had the time to look for codes and reorganize things, but I have time to drop some posts and advertise. Updates will, hopefully, be made to the site!
