General Talk Rules 1. Do not post any support related posts. There are specific boards for that. 2. Don't make a post announcing your new wonderful post count or asking for a custom title. Once you have 5,000 posts. PM one of the Staff Members with the custom title you would like. 3. Participants may not use the Forums to post or transmit advertisements or commercial solicitations of any kind. This includes promotion of PB forums. 4. Don't post pictures you made and ask for people to rate/comment on them. 5. Don't post misleading subjects. Make the subject of your thread relevant to your topic. 6. Do not reply to obvious spam threads. Spam is considered any thread that lacks any point of discussion or is inappropriate to be discussed at Proboards. If the first post should never have been made, then replies to it are considered as spam. 7. Do not create a thread saying you are leaving, you are back, or that you love peanut butter. 8. Do not post any 'I'm Bored' threads, there are plenty of other topics for you to post in, or maybe even consider reading a book, or catching up with the sun. 9. Do not create threads where the subject at hand is already being discussed 10. No "word games" or any threads which result in many just 1 or 2 word replys at fast intervals 11. Staff may lock a thread at any time for any reason. If the reason is not obvious, a justification post will be made to explain the action |
- Due to copyright issue's and general confussion it is now advised that quoting large sections of someone else's work, news etc is not permitted here.
Please provide a link to the article and if need be a brief extract of that story.
Example.Playstation NewsSquare Enix today announced an official North American release date for Dragon Quest VIII - DO NOT post referal links.
- If you create a poll then please indicate what you voted for, instead of "Well what did you vote for and why"
- Personal banners and signature area's (In the event of text) are limited to a size of width 500 and height 250.
Please follow this size and consider those with a smaller screen resolution when adding an image to your signature. - When signing your post, please don't do it as a link, you have plenty of space in your sig area, and in your profile for links
- Do NOT post affiliate links here. They are unwelcome and you will receive a warning for posting them.
[/li][li]If you have a warning and its expired then PM a Global Moderator to have the warning removed.
[/li][li]Please aim all graphics related questions and problems towards this board Click here
A new sticky has been added that includes links to free Graphics programs and good tuts for them programs. Click here
[/li][li]If you link to something and the link is long then use
Link name here
This means the link will show and avoids members having to copy and paste the link into their browsers.
[/li][li]When posting images please avoid stretching the screen by resizing your image using this

Changing height and width to suit. 500 X 500 would be a good size to use.
[/li][li]Ignore spam or offensive posts.
These posts will be dealt with by the members of staff and in the event that staff miss anything then a PM to staff about this will be better than replying.
Please note that replying to spam etc can result in a warning being issued to that member.

[/li][li]We've had issues lately with people replying to obvious spam or advertising threads. Please just ignore those threads and let the problems drop off the top page or a moderator will move or lock it when seen.
All Seeing Eyes
[/li][li]Also, replies that belittle other members will NOT be tolerated.
if somene comes here for help, give a sensible answer, point them in the right direction.
do not make fun of them for posting in the wrong place, this is support after all.
not 'attack a newbie'.
if you can't be civil when replying, don't reply.
[/li][li]As of now, these are the new rules for polls.
- Polls must have at least 2 choices
- When making your poll, be sure to promote discussion, to back up the choice they made (why did they choose that option)
- The poll starter should post their choice and why.
- Think carefully before posting the poll, do some resaech if needed (don't want to miss an option)
- No Tournaments
Blatant rulebreaking will get you a warning.
Any poll that does not follow the above guidelines will be locked.

10 ways be a good forum member Posted by wildmaven 1. Don't get mad when a thread you made goes unanswered. Did you just post a statement? People like to answer questions. Give them something to work with. Start a conversation and people will respond. 2. Remember that it's not always about you. If someone's extremely excited, for example, about their new computer, don't come in and say, "well, mine beats yours." Give that person time to shine, to be excited. Give up the spotlight once in a while. 3. When you are angry, cranky, sad, etc., you may come across differently than you think. I've posted when I've been cranky, and each time it bites me on the butt. If you do feel the need to post when your emotions are high, read, and re-read your post to make sure it can't be taken in a way you didn't intend. 4. Ignore spam. When you reply to it, it just brings it back to the top of the page. Let it crawl down the page into oblivion. You don't have to bump it up for the mods to see. 5. Don't create spam. The only person who thinks spam is cool is the person who created it. The rest of us look at it and think, "how pathetic is he/she?" 6. Understand that others will have viewpoints completely different, and perhaps foreign, than your own. This is one of the things I love about the internet and forum interaction. Here, you get to see opinions from those of different religions, backgrounds, and experiences. Learn from it. Respect their opinion. It's okay to debate, but remember there is another person on the other side. 7. Want to move up the ranks of well-liked members? Reply to the posts of others with a reply that took some thought. If all you have to say is "that's cool", try to ask a question of the person as well. There are instances where the post is so awe-inspiring that all you can say is "that's cool," but don't make 2 word replies your trademark. 8. Experience life outside of the virtual world and you will find you have much more to talk about when you return. If you're sitting there, staring at the monitor, wondering "what kind of thread should I make today," then you're thinking too hard. 9. Understand that others will make mistakes. We're all human. Remember when you first started out, what a scary moment it was when you first hit that "send" button? Have compassion for your fellow members and don't be so quick to point a finger. Offer to help them and you may just find a new friend. 10. Have fun, read the Rules, and participate. If you feel you are getting upset about a thread, or you are sitting there bored out of your mind, go find something else to do. We'll still be here when you come back, and hopefully you'll have something really great to share with us when you return. And, believe me, I've broken just about all of those at one time, myself.
