I don't like the idea of becoming an advertising billboard for a company/website I'm not even truly affiliated with so that I can earn $5 in 4 days. It's not worth irritating my friends and frankly I think it's tacky to advertise everywhere for some site that you don't even know the owner of so that you can make cash (well, something similar) at a slower rate than you would in a minimum wage job. I'll stick to my cashier job as my way of making money - much more efficient, much less irritating. Also, how many swagbucks did you make from your "discussion" topic? I almost locked this on site. I'm sick of seeing swagbucks advertisements everywhere and this is basically one. Well, seeing as how almost everyone here has a link to a blog, forum, or site of some kind, I don't really mind advertising what I'm interested in my own signature either. After all, I find many badly-made banners pointing to Proboards with glaringly loud skins that abuse my eyes and a lack of intelligent conversation annoying, but I can live with that because everyone's promoting something. I also don't like advertising everywhere, which is why I keep it to my signature and only tell my good friends whom I know would benefit from this site. I make my money through my writing jobs; this is something on the side to help me have fun (because watching your Swagbucks accumulate is fun ;D), and pay my textbook costs, though many people use it for free electronics and that kind of stuff. But for someone who doesn't have a job and can't easily get one, and isn't able to write or sell anything online, this could be a lot more important. Also, as I clearly stated in my opening post, this is a discussion topic, not an advertisement. Nowhere in my post did I put a referral link, and I even linked to non-referral pages. I'm asking questions to try and generate discussion. After all, aren't people posting one-smilie or one-word answers in other 100+ page threads, or begging for more clicks on their signatures doing just about the same, only with far less thought put into it and benefit to themselves and others? I consider that spam and advertising; I consider this quite different. Edited to add: Oh, and I got a grand total of 0 Swagbucks for posting this thread, by the way. zomg this seems cool and fun. i signed up. but i dont understand how to get swagbucks? like i put it in my sig but now what? and how does searching do it? This page has some tips on winning Swagbucks that might be helpful. Also, here's something I wrote earlier with a bunch of techniques for making Swagbucks. 1. Finding Codes These are tricky to find! The best way I've found is to hang around the Facebook wall, found here: www.facebook.com/swagbucks Whenever there's a code out, everyone will be chiming in with "Thanks, TSG" and sometimes giving hints. You can also subscribe to their blog postings if you have an RSS feed reader, or follow them on Twitter. All these places sometimes give away codes. Also, try and get your friends to sign up under your referral link, and when there's a code, let each other know. (You're not supposed to give each other the actual code, but you can say, "There's a code out!" or something.)
2. Searching Make your searches natural and use it like Google. Bookmark www.swagbucks.com, and if you can, use it as your homepage. You should be able to get at least one win from searching each day. Use the Images and Videos tab and make your searches look natural. Sometimes if you search three or four times in a row ("FMX bike setups", followed by, "FMX setup diagrams", followed by, "FMX pictures" won for me one time), you can get a Swagbuck or more on the second, third, fourth, even fifth search. Don't go past that though, or you might be seen as spamming the searches.
3. Referrals Your friends will be the best referrals! They're most likely to search and keep searching... You can also put your referral link in any forum signatures (check the forum rules and make sure this is okay), make a Youtube video about Swagbucks with the referral link, etc.
4. Polls Submit poll ideas and if yours gets picked, you get Swagbucks!
5. Prize photos/videos If you earn a prize, make sure you get an unboxing video and post it on Youtube to earn Swagbucks, and a picture to send to them too!
Even if it's a gift card or something you don't physically get, find a way to get a screenshot of it and a picture of yourself, put them together, and you have a prize photo for a Swagbuck.
6. Shopping online When you shop online, use their links and get a Swagbuck for every $5 you spend on the site.
7. Trades If you send in old cellphones and video games, you can get some pretty decent Swagbucks back for nothing, and as a bonus, you'll declutter your room. Does that help give you some ideas on different ways you can earn? I was hoping on getting a Wii from it. It would've taken something like a year, I think. Because waiting a while to get something completely free is unreasonable. I agree, if you can afford to spend the money on a gaming system, it's probably better just to buy it, but if you can't, it's a great way of getting something really cool for yourself.

Considering the amount of work needed to make any kind of profit it really isn't worth it. You can put money into the forex and be pretty much guaranteed to make more daily profit than you would ever get from swagbucks and with far less effort required.

Hmm. I think I'll QFT again. "Want something free?" "No, it's not good enough." You just can't please some people. =P My point is that some people don't have money to put in forex, and some people don't earn money from a constant job. Being able to earn enough Swagbucks to give your kids a Wii for Christmas, even if you have to save up a lot of Swagbucks to do it, is often an amazing thing for people who simply can't afford it. I know people who live paycheck to paycheck, and being paid a little for something they do anyway is a godsend. If you have enough money that you'd prefer to use a different search engine that you're more used to, more power to you, but I'm going for the free stuff. ;D Edited to add: I'd respectfully ask that anyone who wants to essentially say that they think this thread is spam or protest the advertisement they perceive this thread as being intended for, please PM me rather than derailing the thread in public.

I dont know how to present poll ideas i looked and couldnt find. You just have to email pollideas@swagbucks.com to give them your ideas. Also, you can find the address and current polls by going to the main page and clicking on "Polls", near the bottom of the menu on the left-hand side. Here's a direct link. ;D

Somehow me thinks someone is desperate for referrals. I'm sure one to talk, I got conned a couple weeks ago. support.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=pbgt&action=display&thread=318894&page=4#3540720 Ordered my fifth Amazon gift card today! Remember everyone, today is Mega Swagbucks Friday, so when you search, you have the chance to earn even more than usual -- up to 500 Swagbucks (unlikely, but would be very awesome!). Edited: Realized that MSBF (Mega SwagBucks Friday) isn't limited to 100 Swagbucks wins: "$3, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 and even $500 Swag Buck bills" can be won.

Good for you! And there's a Swagbucks code hunt out now! The code is worth 2 Swagbucks. Check the blog for how to get the code. ;D I got it in five minutes, so it's not too hard. The code expires at 1:30 PDT though, so you have an hour-odd to find it! UPDATE: They removed the blog post, turns out more work must be done before the announcement is made. The code IS still good, however. You can find it HERE.

If you want to advertise swagbucks in your signature and if you enjoy the site, then more power to you - I was just explaining why I personally do not plan on joining. I put my opinion in mostly because people were acting like Mara was crazy and illogical when really she makes perfect sense to me. Also, I left the thread open because I saw that there actually was legitimate discussion (which surprised me a tad, so kudos for making that happen haha), but I'd be very surprised if you didn't get some referrals from this thread somehow.

Also, I left the thread open because I saw that there actually was legitimate discussion (which surprised me a tad, so kudos for making that happen haha), but I'd be very surprised if you didn't get some referrals from this thread somehow. That's okay, I'm just glad it's cleared up now. I understand that some people might have their reasons for not wanting to join. To me, it is kind of illogical to turn down free stuff that is making me a profit for doing nothing more than I already do, but that might be my entrepreneurial spirit talking. In any case, no grudges or anything, to each his or her own. I also did want legitimate discussion and sharing of hints for Swagcodes, news, tips for getting more Swagbucks and so on, not referrals. The point of making this thread was to discover other Swagbucks users and share ideas, not convert new people to using it. If people do discover it through this thread, well, I don't see how that's a bad thing. To me, it's like someone starting a thread talking about ideas for Harry Potter forums when they have a Harry Potter forum advertised in their sig. Someone might read the thread and go, "Oh, that's cool, I think I'll join," but the thread wasn't intended to get more members for the forum. Also, people get significantly more benefit out of free stuff than registering at a forum, so it really helps both the referrer and the referred person (referree?). ^^

A year is a long time to stick to something with no forseeable reward. It's all about being patient and persistent. You won't make money instantly unless you're willing to bend laws or ethics. xD And if a year is a long time, that makes me wonder why I'm going to university for four or five years, then... and that actually costs money.
