So I thought I'd let you guys in on one of the previously unannounced v5 features: New, enhanced UBBC tags. Many of the UBBC tags you know and love have received a facelift and now support many new options. I'll give you a couple of examples, but by no means is this in any way a comprehensive list of changes. The [font] tag has gained new functionality. You will be not only able to specify a new font, but also a color, size, and even background color. Example: [font face="Times New Roman" size="7" color="#ff0000"] ... your text here ... [/font]
This instead of the current way which would be: [font=Times New Romain][size=7][color=#ff0000] ... your text here ... [/color][/size][/font]
That's more of a simple example, let's go for a more complex one. Try this table on for size: [table cellpadding="50" border="10" border-color="#009"] [tr] [td bgcolor="#eee"]hello world[/td] [td bgcolor="#ddd"]hello world[/td] [td bgcolor="#ccc" align="center"]hello world[/td] [/tr] [tr] [td bgcolor="#bbb"]hello world[/td] [td border="3" border-style="dashed" border-color="#900" bgcolor="#aaa"]hello world[/td] [td bgcolor="#999" align="right"]hello world[/td] [/tr] [tr] [td bgcolor="#888"][font color="#fff" size="4" face="Times New Roman"]hello world[/font][/td] [td bgcolor="#777"][font color="#fff" size="5" face="Arial"]hello world[/font][/td] [td bgcolor="#666"][font color="#ff0" size="6" face="Comic Sans MS"]hello world[/font][/td] [/tr] [/table]
This code results in the following being displayed on the screen: (sorry about the low quality photo, MS Paint isn't liking me right now) These are just a couple examples, but I thought you might like the preview Patrick

I don't even know if this is feasible or possible but when using the "color" tag could we get the English spelling of it to work as well as the American spelling?

Will the current UBBC usages work still, or will they no longer work?

Will the current UBBC usages work still, or will they no longer work? Almost every tag remains unchanged from their old formats (well, with new additions), but there will be a couple tags that become deprecated which we haven't decided if we will support or not at this time. In such a case, though, old tags would be auto upgraded upon conversion.

I don't even know if this is feasible or possible but when using the "color" tag could we get the English spelling of it to work as well as the American spelling? When codes are used on a website, it's the browser that converts the codes to what you see, Pat and the team are just converting the UBBC to HTML more directly (if you view the source of a page where UBBC is parsed you'll see). So being able to use 'colour' depends on the browser. You could use a censor, but that could change all appearences of colour to color in posts etc

Just a thought, currently you can highlight a bit of text, then click on a UBBC button, and the tags will be added correctly. You can then do the same for adding a second tag as in nesting several tags. How will that work with the new system ?

You can then do the same for adding a second tag as in nesting several tags. How will that work with the new system ? For many things you won't need to nest tags any more (for example, the font tag example above where you can adjust the text color, font, size, etc all at once) When you click one of the helper buttons to add a UBBC tag, we plan to have a prompt show up with options for that tag. If there was something where you wanted to nest just like you do now (for example, using the [td] tag followed by a [b] tag it would function similarly to how it does now.

The font tag, does that support any extra attributes or just predefined ones. 'cause I don't see why not using RegExp you can't make it accept any attribute that someone so wishes, including adding in a class. Looks good though Pat. One last question, will you be updating the list tag to change to from numbered, unnumbered, none or perhaps with an image of your choice?
