Its all down to the FIA not being interested in the safety of the drivers. The tyre company explained that their tyres would not be safe on that circuit and the teams that were contracted to use them tryes decieded the lifes of their drivers were important.
Watching it I was disgusted at many of those that had paid to watch the race throwing full beer cans onto the track infront of F1 cars travelling at upto 200mph. Complete morons If FIA had indeed allowed change, they would have to allow change for the Bridgestone ones aswell. But thats against the rules Although they could just place that new chicane they talked aobut... But its too late now anyway. And the people that threw the cans are indeed idiots. I cant imagine what would happen if someone drove over a can and the tire exploded, making the driver crash into the wall with over 300kmh....

Yes the FIA had a good option to place a chicane before the high speed 7degree banked corner and instead chose to ignore it and spoil a lot of peoples enjoyment.
In the past the FIA has taken notice of the drivers + teams when faced with an apparent danger...WHY not this time?
As for the can throwers I was concerned one would hit a driver and if that had happened in anyother country action would have been taken instantly.

That 6 car race was unique and off the hook. They should do that more often.

Well thanks to Michelin, F1 racing is pretty much lost its chance to hit it big in the US True.... I hope that doesn't result in any bans and more drivers not race at the next GP.. Next year US GP will have only a small crowd now! If FIA had indeed allowed change, they would have to allow change for the Bridgestone ones aswell. But thats against the rules Although they could just place that new chicane they talked aobut... But its too late now anyway. And the people that threw the cans are indeed idiots. It's a 9 degree banked Corner Simpgr

Yeah.. the F1 is on really shaky grounds here in the US I would say.. Especially after the remarks the F1 CEO made about women in racing.. You can read what he said here. I feel sorry for those who paid money to watch that.. Just think if this was a football game or something where only 6 players showed up on the field to play.. The fans would have burned the place down instead of throwing bottles and such

its totally ridiculous that one a tyre company can get things so wrong and two that the FIA wouldn't accept the slight modification of the track.

its totally ridiculous that one a tyre company can get things so wrong and two that the FIA wouldn't accept the slight modification of the track. Changing that part would make Indinapolis, the 2nd fastest circuit of the GP, an extremely slow circuit, meaning there would be a need for car modifications, to a) make it safe b) make them competitive. Again, that is against regulations. You cant just make a fast track into a slow one and race with a car that's made for extreme speeds. You need to slow it down.

If it was that much of a change i don't think the teams would of accepted it but they did bar Ferrari. It wasn't that the cars would need modifying as they'd already be set up for the tyres they use surely.

All the aerodynamics is set to achieve 300kmh and over (well over 330kmh). If they added that chicane, the car wouldnt even be able to achieve that speed, thus, they'd have to make it appropriate (flaps, wings...) so it would go well on a slow paced course.

So its a catch 22 situation between havcing all the cars and not the speed, or hardly any cars and the speed there, i'm sure most F1 fans would want more cars there even at the expense of speed on one circuit.

Of course they would. But the manufacturers wouldnt. They'd have to remake their cars. That costs money and a hell lot of time to make it work.

The whole thing was a shambles and from what ive heard they will be a few people trying to sue because of the amount of money it cost them not just to watch it but to get there etc.
Why they couldnt put a chicane there i do not know...it was the easiest solution to it.
Ferrari annoyed me a bit though, they were the only ones who voted no to it....as much as i dont like them, they didnt deserve to have cans etc thrown at them.
Result, shambles of a race and the fans out of pocket.
