1.) Military - the Internet was first used by the military but was later converted to civilian use in the early '90s. The guy credited with starting the Internet was the guy who converted it to civilian use, correct? 2.) How is anyone supposed to know that? 3.) I would assume something with the military because they had the Internet first.

I have a couple of questions 1.What was the first website ever? 2.What was the first Proboard Ever Besides PB Support 3.What was the first Search Engine ever? 1. SYMBOLICS.COM was the first registered domain name. 2. A Beta Forum Pat likely made while writing the ProBoards software. 3. Not sure
To those who mentioned the military: Wrong, the Military didn't quite invent the "Internet" as we know it today. They invented ARPANET, which was the foundation for which TCP/IP was created on. But, ARPANET is not the Internet.

Yahoo was the first Search Engine. However they did replace their search techonology with a Google server! So Yahoo is Google but with adverts.

I would assume something with the military because they had the Internet first. Nope. Wrong. The internet was developed in a Swedish research facility called CERN. public.web.cern.ch/Public/Content/Chapters/AboutCERN/Achievements/WorldWideWeb/WWW-en.htmlAnd the first registered domain name was symbolics.com. Not the first site. There were military sites, etc that all went under IP adresses.
