I LOVE RPG's, though ight now I'm really p*s*ed at Proboards(pardon my language) because it's been nearly a month since the V4 thing, and it STILL says 1 week.
50 of us played on an RPg, and when it got upgraded to V4 we all quit; now we use Hyperboards because its quick, easy, and they aren't doing anything to the borards that furthers the problems.
Alright, back to my question; who here likes RPg's, and what type? I play on two wolf rpg's; one of my friends created the first one, which is an RPg called SilverMoon, and then I created the second, which is just another part of SilverMoon. ^^

Is this a diss at ProBoards v4 thread or a proper RPG thread?
Anyway, RPG's are okay, but I don't have time for them any more.

I love "storytelling" RPGs. Ones without having to roll dice or anything like that to control your character. I used to write on an RPG for a loooooooong time, and when I quit I found out that I had my own fan club, people who were reading every day while lurking. I have yet to find another RPG that has talented writers. Most of them today consist of posts like "I walk into a wroom and look around. Prolly nobudy hear." Arghghgh!
And the one I had just joined got deleted just when I was about to start a huge story arc.

Dice , stats and such are the only way rpgs are done .You know there once was a formula that worked very well, and for most Roleplay Gaming systems it still does .. 20-25 percent dice .. 75-80 percent player participation .It is games like DnD 3.5 that made it Roll Play Gaming , instead of Role Play Gaming ... OADnD was still very much creative ... with dice and stats sure, but those were for the random factors that nothing else could give .

Dice , stats and such are the only way rpgs are done Um...no. That is ONE way an RPG is done. If that is the only way it is done, then are you saying the 300 people that I was playing with for ten years must've been doing it wrong? Pshaw! Loosen up your definition. It's out-dated. Point in case: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Role-playing_gameMarian

Rhe 300 people can not account for the 6 million people of the last oh 31 years who have been playing actual rpgs ... there is a such things as storytelling systems.. but they are not roleplay gaming systems.Roleplay Gaming systems have such random events that can not be dictated by the storyteller nor can it be dictated by the players, dice or an outside force such as cards etc, must be used. You can not create randomness.. it just happens.Roleplay Gaming systems you never have a set storyline... you dont control the storyline, neither does the game master. The "Storytelling " Rpgs which there is no such things is a misconception which was put out there by white wolf, which they soon corrected .
Roleplay Gaming system ... the Game Master presents a group with choices, the group discusses between them the best way to solve a problem, nothing scripted, then they make their close.Which the group nor the game master know the out come of that choice, until that choice is played through.Dice sheets, stats are also a must. They give randomness like nothing else can. There was no Roleplay Gaming until about 1973 when gary gygax, mike carr, and david arneson decided to sit down .. Which Gary Gygax Created the system, david and Mike were other things to it.That System was dungeon dragons.

Hyperboards kinda sucks anyway, I'd say vbulletin.
But anyway, I usually participate in mmorpg's since those are the most fun.

I created a thread like this a while back, on a different account (because my email got hacked and I forgot my password). The sort of replies I got were:
"...RPGs are boring..."
"...there is no point to them..."
"...no offence, but get a life..."
Of these RPG fans, are there any dieing of waiting for FFXII?

Rhe 300 people can not account for the 6 million people of the last oh 31 years who have been playing actual rpgs Good grief. I was just talking about the group in which I played. I wasn't saying we were the rule. Did you even read the link I posted? Check out the heading of Variations. By the way, RPG means Role Playing Game. RPGs is the plural. The "S" does not mean "system." That's just an invention of the gaming industry recently. I played D&D when I was younger. I know all about the history of RPGs. What I am talking about is a variation of them. For you to say that the way I RPG is WRONG, is dismissing an entire group of people who enjoy what they do. It's like saying RAP isn't music because they do it differently. I have no idea what you mean by this. Ryndell, I am not trying to get on your case every time you post a message, but you seem to THRIVE on trying to prove people wrong. Sometimes it's easier to find fault in others, than to find it in yourself. Life is an approximation. Very few things have hard fast rules and the sooner you understand that, the sooner you will be happier with the world and the less likely you will be to try and correct someone. Marian

Wow, you guys. lol, man, am have I got it all wrong..
I thought that RPG's were only on the computer...I guess i was wrong...
Yeah, I type long posts, but they are real descriptive and use rockin' words. I love wolves; my aunt has like nine, so I'm really good at playign them.
lol, i used to LOVE proboards until this stupid v4 thing. Actually, I'm having fun dissing proboards in general. We have a whole big e-mail thing goign around; it's reached about 200 of us (we are all inked in some way, lol) who are really mad at Proboards...
anyway, lol, I guess I play storytellin rpgs? I'm not sure what they are called, but the players decide what happens. it souns boring, but it he wof rpg's there is a lot of action, fights, and such. Of course, the Alphas converse with the Main admin to think up plot lines, but once its started, there's no telling where it'll go...

Pen+Paper RPGs (Storyline RPGs) sound boring to most, but are sound fun to me. They involve Pen, Paper, Dice and Imagination. Someone is nominated as 'Dungeon Master'. They then write down in their little pad notes about the landscape.
Before play, dice is rolled to determine different 'stats'. As soon as this happens, the RPG begins... and well it goes on.
---
Anyway, glad to see some people appreciate RPGs. I play them myself for Escapism... '_'
