I just watched it again with the ability to listen to it. Much more informative with sound ;D Thanks for demonstrating that Patrick. I know you don't want to give away a lot yet, but is there a chance we can see something about how the coding is going to be different, or expanded rather, on our end? What do you want to see? A sample working template?

This is not finished 100%, but may give you a better example.. So in v5 there are many sections of the HTML that repeat over and over, usually within a table. For example, when displaying a list of threads it usually looks something like...
Board Name ---- Search | Create New Thread Page 1, 2, 3, 4 .... [Select Menu] [Action Menu] Thread Subject - Posted By - Last Post Thread Subject - Posted By - Last Post Thread Subject - Posted By - Last Post Thread Subject - Posted By - Last Post
All of this when it is output as HTML is in one table. So in order to repeat the "Thread Subject - Posted by" etc area over and over, we have to use 2 separate templates. The first template is the wrapper. It is essentially the area around the part that repeats. But inside the wrapper template you have to put a code that tells v5 when to start inserting the list of threads. Currently in v5 what you have to put is "[pb action]" So the wrapper template looks something like: [start table...] Board Name ---- Search | Create New Thread Page 1, 2, 3, 4 .... [Select Menu] [Action Menu] [pb action] [end table] Then the template for each thread would look like: Thread Subject - Posted by - Last post
Overall, that oversimplifies the situation, so let's look at some real code. Before I show you the code, you may want to understand the variables and conditionals as per this blog post from a while back. TEMPLATE_THREADS_WRAPPER <table align="center" class="threads" cellspacing="0"> <tr class="title"> <td colspan="3"> <span class="board_name">[pb board name]</span> </td> <td align="right" class="title_cell2" colspan="4"> [pb board search] [pb board new thread] </td> </tr> <tr class="thread_menu"> <td style="width: 100%;" colspan="7"> [pb board pages] [pb board select] [pb board actions] </td> </tr> <tr class="thread"> <td class="cell1 center" style="width: 3%;"> X </td> <td class="cell2 center" style="width: 5%;"> </td> <td class="cell3" style="width: 47%;"> Subject </td> <td class="cell4 center" style="width: 15%;"> Started By </td> <td class="cell5 center" style="width: 5%;"> Replies </td> <td class="cell6 center" style="width: 5%;"> Views </td> <td class="cell7" style="width: 20%;"> Last Post </td> </tr> [pb action] </table>
<table align="center" class="basic_table" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td class="title"> Members Viewing This Board </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="cell1"> [pb board viewing users staff count] Staff, [pb board viewing users member count] Member[pb board viewing users member count plural s], [pb board viewing users guest count] Guest[pb board viewing users guest count plural s].<br /> [pb board viewing users linked]<br />
</td> </tr>
</table>
TEMPLATE_THREADS <tr class="thread"> <td class="cell1 center"> [pb thread checkbox] </td> <td class="cell2 center"> [pb thread icon] </td> <td class="cell3"> [pb thread new] [pb thread subject linked hover] </td> <td class="cell4 center"> [pb thread started by user linked] </td> <td class="cell5 center"> [pb thread replies count] </td> <td class="cell6 center"> [pb thread views count] </td> <td class="cell7"> [pb thread last post date]<br />[pb thread last post user linked] </td> </tr>
Hope that makes sense enough. A full guide and template editor is planned for inclusion with v5 to make everything much easier.

it just says "Screencast loading" and on the status bar, it says done. Ive tried this in IE, FF, Opera, and Safari, and all said the same thing. Try uploading it to YouTube, and then everyone will be able to view it better. Im on a 56K modem DSL, which is fast, and loads any video up fast. and im on a new computer which is fast. Nevermind, just as I was typing this post, Pats voices started up, made me jump. XD I have my head phones on, and volume up to 100% so yeah lol.

It loaded here in about 45 seconds and I don't have the fastest DSL connection I guess it depends on when you try to access it?

It's looking good, Pat!
I'll run through it again later (going to get a couple of hours rest after my night shift) and may or may not, have questions.

I've uploaded to YouTube, it's not up yet (takes a few minutes I guess), so I'll post a link once it's been processed by YouTube.

Do you get that on the other Browsers you tried as well? Heh, 3rd time it loaded up all the way. BTW I like these new features, and 1 feature I already know I like, is the Thread Preview. Ive already have experience with that, and think that PB should use it too, its a really awesome feature. and my other browsers wont load it up at all only safari. The funny thing is that safari out of all the browsers I have is slower with videos. like on youtube, I tested it out, and the videos all load up on FF, IE, and Opera, but on Safari, it still shows the beginning, and nothing else.
