So my boyfriend had a friend over the other night - boyfriend and I had been drinking and we somehow ended up talking about Lord of the Rings (which I like, and he hates). He said that the "Balrog" was a character on Street Fighter and proceeded to argue with me for almost two hours over the fact that "Street fighter came out before Lord of the Rings".
Now, I'm not that into the series.. but I'm pretty positive that Lord of the Rings was published in at least the 50s, and pretty sure that Street Fighter wasn't around until the 80s, when Video Games came out.
His friend agreed with me, saying that Lord of the Rings was written by a man during WWII - my boyfriend automatically felt threatened because we were "ganging up on him". But he wouldn't drop the fight because he's a Taurus and always has to be correct.
We ended up going to bed without solving the argument because he wouldn't look it up online to see that he was - in fact - wrong. Then he looked it up the next morning and is convinced that LotR was published in the 70s, AFTER Street Fighter came out. -sighs- Men, huh?
Anyways, do you guys ever argue with your spouses about anything poitnless like that? And if you do, when you're wrong do you admit it?

Doesn't sound like it's really all that worth arguing about...
Me and my girlfriend don't argue over stupid things, our discussions are usually intelligent and friendly o-o unless you count those stupid arguments that were just us screwing around xD

Doesn't sound like it's really all that worth arguing about... No, it really wasn't But I'm a Leo, and he's a Taurus. He's too stubborn to drop it and admit he's wrong, and I'm too proud to change the subject when I know I'm right about something.

Or you're both too gullible to stop letting stars dictate your personality.

LOTR has been around since the late 1930's, even though it was first officially published in 1954. And Street Fighter came out a year before I was born, in 1987.
He's off by about half a century.

I have been in fights with my wife like that. However, we NEVER go to bed mad. It was a promise we made ourselves...and even though it can entail some long hours, it was a good call on our parts. I am not sure if we have fought over something like that, but we have fought over silly stuff. Usually the person who is wrong apologizes once they see the truth, zodiac sign notwithstanding.

We aren't supposed to go to bed angry either. Can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink though. Guess I'm going to have to borrow a copy of the books to show him the publication date Btw, I'm not justifying our argument on the fact that our Zodiacs clash on every level possible - but we are very much like our typical signs. Dane cannot - will not - admit when he's wrong until there is solid, indisputable proof right in front of his face. And I'm not going to say "I'm sorry, I was wrong" when I wasn't We argue - and I use that term very loosely because it's usually friendly for the most part - over silly things like this all the time. It's just the way we are, way we've been for years. I just wanted to know if we were the only ones, not get snide comments from people.

Okay. Just letting you know that it was not meant that way if you saw it as snide.

Okay. Just letting you know that it was not meant that way if you saw it as snide. Actually I'm glad you responded - it makes me feel a little more sane knowing we're not the only ones that do things like that. Most people try to play off their relationships as picture perfect, sparkly clean and I know most are far from it It just annoys me when other people pop into a conversation to say something rude that doesn't even contribute to the question that I asked

I used to teach intercultural and interpersonal relationships. I asked the class how many of them knew a couple that had been together for 20+ years and never fought? A few would raise their hands. I told them that we call those people "Liars."

My dad and his ex had loads of arguments about whether time travel was possible, which always made me laugh. Some people just hate to be wrong.

I just find the zodiac trend to be one of the most annoying things to happen.
