...... Really, your in such a rush to get the next version. Yet, if you can't be satisfied with version 4, what makes you think you will be any more satisfied with 5? If your SO willing to just up and join Invision, don't linger and think about 'dealing with version 4' and continue to threaten to leave, because you think you can jump on the wagon to tick off Pat about releasing number 5. No matter what you say, its not going to be quicker, and no matter how many of your 'groupies' that you think you can convert to Invision, is it really going to bother the true Proboardians.
-mega rant.. ^^ and Proboardians.. Just doesn't cut it-

...this got really strange. xD Essentially, v5 will be out when it's ready. There's a lot of work going into it, tons of new features, much-needed testing, etc. I'm sure there will be more updates as the time gets closer, though v4.5 is plenty fine for now. I'm going to go ahead and lock this since it's not going anywhere.

If you guys can get back on topic, we'll let this one move ahead.
As for v5, there has been a ton, ton, ton of development on it. We have some amazing new features in store, but we don't want to show all of our cards just yet. I'm hoping to do a preview of one of our admin features next week to give you an idea though.
There are some (in my opinion) quite amazing improvements over the current software. We're really focusing on making everything truly as easy as possible to do -- everything from moderation, administration, posting, sending PMs, modifying your forum layout -- we are literally taking into account every aspect of the forum and working to completely overhaul and improve the system. Simplicity with functionality is our goal.

Every time someone asks, the release date gets pushed back a week. Not one week, one year.

Vista sucks, v4 definitely doesn't! I don't see where you got that statement from. Vista does just what it needs to do. It works. Just like version 4. They both work and have cool feature. Version 5 and Windows 7 are both major improvements to fix up and improve the previous features.

Just to point out, I think the real version we are on is called Version 4.5, and Robert, I do not see where you get that anology from.

I think of version 4 as a great version but it didn't have enough features. I think of version 5 as a new version that will contain more features. It's hard to explain.

It's hard to explain. Have to consider the fact that version 4 was released quite a few years ago, so it was pretty much top of the line when it was released.
