Forum URL: jodecitalk.proboards37.comI wanted to get some advice from my fellow Proboards Site Administrators, Moderators, etc regarding a new member of my board. This new member of my board is apparently homosexual, and has made references to his attraction for a famous male celebrity. A couple of my board members PMed me, expressing their concern over this new board member openly expressing his homosexual tendencies. So I wanted to come on here to see what you all think. Is this something I should speak to the new board member about? I don't want him to think that we discriminate against people on my board, on the basis of race, gender, sexual preference, etc. Because we don't. But again, some of my board members are uncomfortable. Do you all think I should address this, and if so, how? Thanks!

What I would do is tell him to tone it down a bit. Other people on the forum have been concerned about your posts you have made concerning homosexuality, and they are feeling desturbed. I don't want you to leave, but to not make posts about this subject.
That is what I would tell them..

The member has a right to express his feelings towards things. If that member has made it aware that he is homosexual then he is not afraid what people may think about him. I would talk to that one member and get to know him a little better and take it from there. Watch your other members in case they say some things they shouldn't of say. Who knows, that new member could turn out to be a good friend to a few people on your board. No one should judge someone before they get to know them. But tell him that sometimes it might be good to keep his opinions to himself in certain situation's. (whatever they might be) You want to keep a clean board so just talk to that new member in PM.

Treat it how you would any sexual tendency. Even if somebody was straight and made sexual remarks about a celebrity it can make people feel uncomfortable. It's all the same, just treat it like it were any other sexual remark.
