Recently, I've been reading up a lot on capital punishment and the British Judicial System; The hangmen Pierrepoint and Syd Dernley especially.
Being an executioner was a job you had to apply for, you were never invited. Once you were accepted [after a preliminary interview during which you were asked why you thought you were suitable for the post], you would be trained, and providing you passed the tests [practical and theory], your name would go on a list, where your services would be called upon whenever you were required.
Could you throw the switch...push the lever...fire the rifle?
Please give the reasons as to why, or why not

Thankfully that doesn't happen in today's world. Most of the internet folk would just say, "I'd do it for the lulz."

No I couldn't do it Reason: I have strong feelings about life and I think all forms of life are so precious. For example, I've often picked up animals at the roadside who've been hit by vehicles etc and managed to nurse some of them back to health. I even swerve for butterflies whilst driving!! (if it is safe to do so I just couldn't intentionally kill anything or anybody - it's just not in me to do it.

No I couldn't ever. The job that I want to do is basically the opposite, and I care about life far too much, I've never agreed with anything like this.

No. The emotional toll must be immense. Also, i'd be constantly worrying about the possibility of executing a wrongly convicted person.

Never, I would forever be haunted by the fact that I was the cause of someone's death. It would be too much emotional stress on myself. The fact of how easily I feel guilit (even for squishing a bug) wouldn't help either.

I got a better idea.
Put them to sleep, and drag them somewhere they can't break out of, where they would go utterly insane. Something like the Alcatraz prison and whatnot. Instead of brutally killing them, let them suffer. Killing is only too good for them, at least some of them.
It's the living in isolation that can really turn someone around.
As for being an executioner... Maybe in my past lives, one or two, I've been the executioner. I somehow have odd dreams about an axe and someone's head rolling around my feet, and it all looks medieval, ugh. In this life, not so much. I did think about using tranquilizer guns if something was to happen, they're safer and less harmful.

I don't think so. The thought of someone's death on your consious would be a little bit too much. Plus it's actually really disturbing if you put thought into it.

I dont think i could i don't like the idea of anything being killed. I feel guilty when i accidently squashed a bug XD Certainly couldn't do it now but not sure if it was 100 years ago or more. Guess it was more normal then so i may not be as worried.

Hmm, not really! Think about it, you have to bury the body or cremate it, work on the records, make a death certificate, inform the family if they aren't aware of it or whatnot, and you also have to pay for the electricity, the equipment, what not. =3 A place of lone isolation with rats and little food and scarce water is better... It's almost all free! Except for the place. =3

Especially if we're talking about things like hanging/beheading. Electric chair or lethal injection can't be that expensive.

I couldn't.
I believe that I have what it takes to pull the trigger if mine or someone else's life was being threatened then and there by that person but otherwise, no.
If I absolutely have to kill someone I want it out of defense and I would want them to have the same chance at getting to me first.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't execute a person unless they really did something wrong, like they were a serial killer or a terrorist. Other than that, i think most can go to jail for the rest of their lives and suffer with what they've done. I do think lethal injection would be the most humane, or even hanging, but beheading and electric chair are to brutal. Quick and easy are the way to go.
