Anything with dragons i normally like (: not so much fantasy set in it own world as the story always seem to follow the same theme. I read manga books more which i guess dont count as books really but they the only things i finish XD
I love anything by Weis and Hickman, who are most well known for the Dragonlance series - but their new series, Dragonships of the Vindras seems very promising with only two books out so far.
As far as the Vampire thing goes.. I was into Vampire novels way before the crazy hit the "kids" scene. I read one paragraph of a Twilight book and want nothing to do with them, thank you very much. But more Anne Rice kind of Vampire novels would be welcome on my shelf.
Anything about dragons is great.. I loved Dragon Song as a kid.

they have a new series? i didn't know that. must acquire. i just started rereading Dragons of Autumn Twilight. oh, Tas. <3 xD Also just finished the Trial of the Twins DragonLance Legends trilogy, about Raistlin and Caramon.
Anne Rice's vampire novels are fantastic, though I admit that I enjoyed The Lives of the Mayfair Witches series much much more (specifically the main ones, The Witching Hour, Lasher, and Taltos).
Have you heard of Jane Yolen? She's a YA novelist, but her Pit Dragons series is fantastic. I read the first three a few years ago, and they were highly enjoyable. A fourth book apparently came out last year (which I *just* found out when looking up the series name!), so hopefully that's equally amazing. :3 gotta pick that up sometime, too...
edit;; note: 'Pit Dragons' is a mix of high fantasy and scifi. things take place in a different planet, and i believe there are other planets, but i don't recall any mention of interplanetary travels (aside from transporting convicts to the planet everything takes place on) or anything remotely 'futuristic'.
edit again;; Yolen also has a magic novel called "Wizard's Hall." She's been adamant about JKR stealing her novel, but.. eh, you decide for yourself. xD
Are you talking books that appeal to teens and young adults or may I throw in with my adult wants and needs???
OP's asking for what kind of fantasy YOU would like to see more of. :3 Besides, a few Anne Rice references in here already, and she's hardly teens/young adults. xD
---
while we're on the subject, Nora Roberts has a lovely fantasy series called The Circle Trilogy. Lots of Celtic/Gaelic/Irish/British references, as well as mythology, added with vampires, wizards, warriors, witches, and dragons. oh yeah.

But MOST of the responses swing/swung (?) in the teen young adult and I wanted to be sure.
I've been hearing about the Nora Robert trilogy have you read it and is it good?

many of the responders have been teens/YA, so.. =X
Ohhhhhhhh, The Circle trilogy is one of my favourite fantasy series on the bit more 'adult' side. It's tastefully done, though, not over-the-top in terms of sex.
The story, though, sex aside, is riveting. I'd never heard of Nora Roberts before this series, and Circle made me pick up her other novels.
Thanks for the info...*runs to down-load the series to her Kindle*, I'll pass that info on.*hugs*
See I love Nora Roberts when she is writing as J D Robb and writing her futuristic cop series. I love futuristic books.
May I recommend if any of you like books about shape shifters, vampires and the Fae but not done in a silly over the top manner---Patricia Briggs- Mercy Thompson Series will really do it for you. Her books so far require minimal suspension of disbelief since she writes as if everything was absolutely true also minimal adult situations.
The Kitty Norville Series by Carrie Vaughn will tickle the fancy of many a "Other" lover out here. And they are both a series that can (In my opinion) be shared be aldults and young adult.
I wrote your suggestions down.. always looking for a good book to read.
Dianne! I seem to remember you mentioning a book/series at some point that was fantasy, but really gory/R rated?? Can't remember much else about it other than I was like "I want to read that" lol.

Oh man Miss Daisy---there are so many that fit that description that I wouldn't know where to start...perhaps with some of Laurell K Hamiltons early works? There is one in particular that makes me want to hide under the bed after I re-read it.
There are soooo many excellent (IMO as well as many others who come to my site) speculative fiction series out there today.
A great place to go is www.fictfact.com a great site for tracking series and learning about new ones.

lol, thanks! you rock pretty hard too. =P If you hear of something new, shoot me a PM and I'll do likewise. :3
I just remembered another series I like, called the "Clan Novel Trilogy". Admittedly, I've only read one book in the installment - the last one. >.< My bf doesn't have the others. =/ But it's REALLY good, I was just majorly confused for a large chunk of it. xDD

She has a fourth book? Really? You just made my day!!! I read her books way back when, when I was in grade 4.

apparently! i was very surprised to hear about it. according to the wiki entry for pit dragon trilogy (i'm loling at the 'trilogy' bit, tbh. xD), the fourth installment is called "Dragon's Heart", and is, according to another review the 'long awaited conclusion (20 years!)' to the series, released May 4th of 2009. Google appears to have a bit of a preview of it, as well.
