I've tried playing Oblivion about 6 times now. While I appreciate it and know its a good game, I just can't get into it. Its just too open ended for me (that, and I absolutely hate games where the enemies level up with you. It just doesn't make any sense). I'll be keeping my eye on Skyrim, but I'm not too excited for it right now. I can totally agree with that I like having enemies with set levels, personally; then i either need to mindlessly kill 65,340,285 boars or find and kill 1...i dunno, whatever the biggest enemy is I prefer open-ended games, though; something where I have to go step by step gets boring quickly to me. Plus, I like replaying games over and over, and open-ended ones make that a bit less stupid xD

I love love love love love the Elder Scrolls Series. Skyrim was announced during 2010 VGAs, and I just about pee'd myself in excitement. I've played the bejeezus out of Oblivion, dabbled a bit in Morrowind, but yeah... Oblivion was what got me into gaming, so it's very near and dear to my heart. I cannot wait to see what's next. -flaps around squeeing- @dancing lock guy; it's an open-world (ish) Fantasy FPRPG. It takes place in various places (Morrowind was in... well, Morrowind. xD And Oblivion took place in Cyrodiil), all on the same continent of Tamriel. Here's more info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Elder_ScrollsTo be honest, even though Dragon Age:Origins/Dragon Age 2 (Yes, I know it hasnt' come out yet. xD) has usurped it from it's spot as my #1 favourite game, the only reason it did so was because of the party you acquire (ES as far as I know is solo-going). It's a very close second, and despite the fact that I have beaten Oblivion... four times now, I have started yet another save. =X Sounds epic. xD I shall try it ^_^ I think I can request a game from my library, lolz

Something about oblivion (and a large part of it was probably the leveling system) bored me to tears.

I dunno, I can see what you mean though. who was the developer....Bethesda, I think? I haven't seen too much of their stuff outside of fallout and elder scrolls. It's a shame, I love their games D:

I can't wait for Skyrim, I loved Oblivion and can't wait to make a hundred new characters just to try out multiple paths and game play styles.
For those who don't know, Gametrailers has the trailer up for Skyrim.
