That unfortunately could be the problem. The ISP(s) blocking that image. I will leave this for my colleague Ricky, who will be able to discuss this with the developers to confirm, and see if there is anything that can be done. He should reply in a few hours

The local ISPs don't generally block images, and I'm not aware of anyone having any problems with any other images, so it would be highly unlikely for the ISPs to block a Captcha image.
Thanks for giving this your time, and I'll wait for your colleague to get back on this.

Hi, Can you ensure that you're using the latest version of the adobe flash player? Once that's installed, restart your browser and see if it displays for you then

Hi, I've been having the same problems for my forum, I'm assuming that they look the same, but I'm not sure.. It works fine for me, but a few of my admins have had problems.. One is using the same internet provider as I am (We are both at a University Campus) and the other is in South Africa.

Just like to keep the issues separated to keep it organized. Also, be sure to include more info about the problem from the users experiencing the issue, as well as link to the forum in question. Thanks

Hi, Can you ensure that you're using the latest version of the adobe flash player? Once that's installed, restart your browser and see if it displays for you then Installed the latest Flash Player and the Captcha is displaying consistently now. Thanks. I had previously installed the latest Flash Player just over a month ago on 18 Feb 2011! A problem with that version of Flash Player? It still took 5 attempts before the text keyed in was recognised as a valid Captcha, even though I'm very sure I keyed in the correct text the first four times, but that's a much lesser problem.

Glad to hear that worked out I'll see about giving the captcha a few test runs just to ensure that it's consistent with recognizing you've entered the correct text. Thanks for checking back

Re-installing Adobe Flash Player appears to have removed the PS2PDF converter required by Cute PDF Writer. Perhaps there is an incompatibility issue there.

I received the following SMS today from a friend who is a member:
In the end, he remembered his password, but it seems the Captcha problem has not gone away.
For another friend who earlier couldn't register, I registered for him using his e-mail address, and he later activated the account and changed his password.
I'm concerned that others may not bother to register or retrieve their password if they can't see the Captcha, and may just go away instead of contacting me.

I can't see it being anything other than a Solve Media problem. I hope you have a good contract with them. A quote from the end of a blog article I found: As matters stand, I'm inclined to agree.

I can't see it being anything other than a Solve Media problem. I hope you have a good contract with them. A quote from the end of a blog article I found: As matters stand, I'm inclined to agree. It is not a matter of that, not at all. It is to stop 'bots' from registering, and/or making spam posts which can get your forum/site blacklisted. A few years ago when we didn't have the captcha, this was a massive problem, and certain internet security programs started to block their users from ProBoards because these spam bots posted 'bad links'. It is also to stop attempts to 'flood' the servers, which could drastically slow down the service for you, the user. This support board used to be full of admins complaining because these bots were registering masses of accounts, and making masses of posts, alot of the time using foul language as the username, and in the posts. The Captcha is there for the benefit of the members. You have been unfortunate to have a problem with it, but considering there are thousands upon thousands of occasions a day in which it is entered, you are the exception, and not the rule. It's easy to read an article like the one above, and because it rings true for you, to agree with it, but you will also find multiples of articles stating the benefits of the Captcha. In a perfect world, of course, we wouldn't want you to have to enter it, but unfortunately, it is not a perfect world, and it is a necessary evil, for the benefit of everyone. Compare it to airport security... we all hate it, but we know why we have to do it, because of what might happen.

Sorry, just being a bit facetious.
Captchas don't usually bother me, but I am concerned about losing people because they can't see the Captcha.
I was told that Apple computers may have difficulties with Flash Player. Is that correct? The other possible issue - a PS2PDF converter referred to above.
I'd like to figure out why this problem affects some but not others, without having to go to each one who has a problem and have them describe their entire computer system to me. Apart from the immense hassle both to myself and the users, it won't cover those who don't get back to me that they have a problem and just go away.
