Not sure if I can ask about this here but I'm having a problem with the JavaScript word counter and it... simply not working. :3 You can enter the text but when 'calculate' is pressed, nothing happens. - I was wondering if it could be that I can't have it where it's located (Peekaboo Side Table) or if there is another code conflict perhaps? Any ideas/ help is appreciated :3 theplaguedogs.proboards.com/index.cgi

Just looking over your coding and you need to change all these comments to proper comments. You have <BORDER AROUND FORUM CODE> It should be <!--BORDER AROUND FORUM CODE--> Plus fix this one: <!----INSERT NEWS IMAGES HERE-----!> Fixed: <!--INSERT NEWS IMAGES HERE--> That probably won't fix it and you do have some other problems because your peekaboos aren't showing the scroll bar for me in IE so I can't even see your word count part. So am going through the rest of your code and will post back. Not sure why you have such tiny percents in the border code but you need to put them right. Change what you have to what I have in the blue: <script> <!-- /* Border-Around-Forum using Images - by Smangii */ var hi = "http://i53.tinypic.com/1zv3o0h.png"; var mi = "http://i53.tinypic.com/207734p.jpg"; var bi = "http://i691./vv273/omglulzwut/TPD/bdfooter.jpg"; document.write('<table width=" 1000px" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center"><tr><td align="center" width=" 100%"><img src="'+hi+'"></td></tr><tr><td width=" 100%" style="background-image: url('+mi+');">') //--> </script> Also go recopy the css part of the peek-a-boos and replace what you have. Go ahead and readd your images but don't change anything else for now. I think that will fix the scroll I'm not getting. In addition, it may be a good idea (but not necessary) to go ahead and use a style in the div. <div style="text-align: center;"> Just a good habit to get into since <div align="center"> is deprecated. www.w3schools.com/tags/att_div_align.aspJust telling you errors as I see them. Somewhere in the peekaboos you have: <color="purple"> and it needs to be <font color="purple"> and closed </font> I'm running out of time so let me know if you still can't use the word count and if no, what browser are you using? Thanks. What a cute site, btw.

Well, I fixed a lot of what you told me on global (haven't had time to get to main). Nothing really has changed now except for the fact that the peekaboo table no longer is fixed but has a scroll bar. Which may be because the H percentages are at 100 instead of the 183 I had them set at. :3
I still haven't put the word counter back in to try it because I didn't want to mess anything else up. I replaced the images like you said as well as the cbox (because people can't live there otherwise :3 ) - So - One thing at a time, do I have the majority of the codes fixed correctly? Replaced <center> with the <div align> code as well as the font colour code.
Some of these I moved from a test site and simply forgot to adjust to my slightly more advanced knowledge to date :'D - I do know that the side table was fixed previously and you could scroll down it by scrolling down through the actual site. Which is what I want again but it has aquired it's own scroll bar now. However, like I said, I imagine that can be fixed with an increase in the H percentage. :3 - But I'll wait to give it a go in case I screw something else up.
I'd much rather get this problem put in place (as well as any others that may arise from the edits) since I don't really *need* the word counter. I'll place it in once I get your seal of approval. :3

Go ahead and put the word counter back in and if you still can't use it can you tell us what browser you are using. (I can only check it in IE, FF and Chrome and I know the word counter works in the peekaboos in those browsers. The problem I was having with you putting that extra large percentage was that I could never see all of your tables because it wasn't scrolling with your site and there was not scroll bar to see the other tables. Since this is SubDevo's code I think it best you put his name in the subject line of your first post to see if he can make changes so it will scroll with your site. And by scroll with your site, I hope we are on the same page meaning like the traditional side tables do? Scratch that about the subject line with SubDevos name. Once we get the word count solved you may want to just start a new thread with the appropriate subject in it. Anyway, post back once you put the word count back in.

After too much playing about trying to work out the fixed vs scroll in the table, I finally gave up before I broke it. :3
The Word Counter works wonderful now, thank you. I imagine it had a lot to do with the align codes since once I changed those, it starting cooperating. I'm using Chrome and yes, like traditional tables with the added benefit of minimizing the tables to the side (which is what I so love about this code). :'D - If you wouldn't mind checking up and make sure it works for you on IE, I'd appreciate it. So far it's merely convenience and aesthetics that make me *need* the tables to be fixed. :3 But as you stated, I can create a new thread directed to Sub. :3

The word counter works fine for me in IE, FF and Chrome. However, in FF the textarea is too large and stretching the side tables and even when I type in enough that the scroll bar appears it is still too wide. In Chrome if I type enough so the scroll bar appears it seems to fit the page o.k. Here is a screen shot in FF. i55.tinypic.com/15iow5.jpgAside from the stretching all three browsers have a scroll bar at the bottom of the peek-a-boos which tells me the content must be too wide for the the size you have set in your table and it just may be the scroll bar. So this is the fix: Put this css specifically tageting the word counter right below the other css you have for the peekaboos. <style type="text/css"> <!-- #mycounterinput{ width:50px; font-family: arial; font-size: 1em; background: #181b1a; color: #658077; border: 1px solid #000000; -moz-border-radius: 10px; -webkit-border-radius: 10px; -khtml-border-radius: 10px; border-radius: 10px;
} #mycountertextarea{ width:200px; font-family: arial; font-size; 1em; background: #181b1a; color: #658077; border: 1px solid #000000; -moz-border-radius: 10px; -webkit-border-radius: 10px; -khtml-border-radius: 10px; border-radius: 10px; } #mycountercalculate{ width: 100px; font-family: arial; font-size: 1em; background: #181b1a; color: #658077; border: 1px solid #000000; -moz-border-radius: 10px; -webkit-border-radius: 10px; -khtml-border-radius: 10px; border-radius: 10px;
--> </style> Now use this revised word counter table. Put this inside the side table you have already have: <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="6"> <tr> <td width="100%"><textarea id="mycountertextarea" rows="5" name="wordcount2" cols="30" wrap="hard" font-size=".9em"></textarea></td> </tr> <tr> <td width="100%"> <div align="center"><p><input id="mycountercalculate" type="button" value="Calculate" onClick="countit()"> <input id="mycounterinput" type="text" name="wordcount3"></p> <div align="center"><center><p><font face="arial">This free script provided by</font> <font face="arial, helvetica" ><a href="http://javascriptkit.com">JavaScript Kit</a></font></p> </center></div></div></td> </tr> </table> </form> So just to be clear only remove this bit in red and replace it with the above: <!-- *** PLACE ALL WORD COUNTER CONTENT BELOW THIS LINE *** --> <br> <br> <div align="center"> <img src="http://i691./vv273/omglulzwut/TPD/wordcounter.jpg"> <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="background-image: url(http://i691./vv273/omglulzwut/TPD/tablebg.jpg);"> <tr> <td width="220" height="260" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"> <form method="POST" name="wordcount"> <script language="JavaScript"> function countit(){ /*Word count script By JavaScript Kit (http://javascriptkit.com) Over 400+ free scripts here! */ var formcontent=document.wordcount.wordcount2.value formcontent=formcontent.split(" ") document.wordcount.wordcount3.value=formcontent.length } </script> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="6"> <tr> <td width="100%"><textarea rows="5" name="wordcount2" cols="30" wrap="virtual"></textarea></td> </tr> <tr> <td width="100%"><div align="right"><p><input type="button" value="Calculate" onClick="countit()"> <input type="text" name="wordcount3" size="20"></p> <div align="center"><center><p><font face="arial" size="-2">This free script provided by</font> <font face="arial, helvetica" size="-2"><a href="http://javascriptkit.com">JavaScript Kit</a></font></p> </center></div></div></td> </tr> </table> </form> </td> </tr> </table> </div> On a side note back at the top of the peekaboo find this and remove the red. Just an extra < <<div id="rightNav" style="display:none; z-index:51;"> I'm hoping this is an end to the word counter woes. lol

It still scrolls at the bottom left to right for me (the entire peekaboo area) - But I think that has more to do with the top to bottom scroll bar that I'm wanting to get rid of. Hopefully that will fix itself one I ask Sub about making the tables fixed to scroll with the board rather than have it's own scrolling area like so. :3 If it didn't work in IE previously, I'm sure it still doesn't but it does work well in Chrome. :3 lulz - Well, I don't have or use FF so the Word Counter still works for me in Chrome, hopefully it will work well for you in FF now. :'D - It looks lovely though and as far as I can tell, the only beef I have is with the scrolling in the tables. :3

The word counter looks fine in FF, IE & Chrome, now. And I think you are right, once you get rid of the scroll bar it'll probably fix the scroll at the bottom of the peek-a-boos.
If you want you could start a new thread, with an appropriate subject, to get SubDevo's attention feel free.

I sure will - Thank you so much for your time and patience with me, I appreciate it. I probably won't be changing much around when it comes to the side tables for a long time to come. :3
