Changing Subboard separator?

I figured I needed to do something with this: {foreach $[board.sub_board]}$[board.sub_board]$[board.sub_board.comma] {/foreach}
But I'm not sure what I need to change that '.comma' to in order to have the subboards separated by a | instead.
