One thing I liked about v4 is how you could edit the member group colors and designs. I am having issues with doing the same thing on v5 however and was wondering how one went about doing that? I am a little confused. I tried the code I normally would use on v4, placed it in my Global Headers annnd nothing happened. Anyone care to help me with my small issue? Or maybe make a code that will work with v5?

What sort of designs did you have for the member groups before? You can assign each member group a colour (as well as manage the other settings to do with them) by going to Admin > Members > Member Groups. There isn't an obvious way to style member group links as there was in V4 although a plugin could probably be made to deal with it. As the V4 code not working, that is a likely probability with V5 ( Ryan Roos posted a good explanation as to why). Could you link to your betazone forum and your v4 forum with the code in question?

Well I am actually preparing an entire new forum for when V5 releases but I can link you to a forum that I have edited the member groups right HERE. This is my Betazone forum. Actually I just tried to use the member group color editor thing and it didn't work at all.

First off: Soul Eater + brilliant skin <3 Seriously, I poked around a bit. You're making me want to read all my manga and start roleplaying again For the member groups, the problem with V5 here is that there aren't classes for each group being added to the links. This did happen in V4 (.group3, .group14 etc) but there doesn't seem to be a way to easily replicate it in V5 yet. What about the member group colours didn't work in the admin panel? What were the steps you took? There's always a chance there could be a bug. And as for the code from V4, which specific one(s) was it? I saw Chris' Hack Manager code being used and I don't know if that keeps every single code in there or not, it's very difficult to find them in there otherwise.

Indeed. The hack manager drives me insane. It's the first time I ever used it and that was only because members complained about the darkness of the current skin so I made a brighter one. I used the .group codes to edit the member groups. I am notorious for breaking things so I don't know why it isn't working. D:
But you should totally join Paper Moon. We're great. ;D (also I could use your help with my MYO mod. I figured it out one day but I gave up. Also the original board mod isn't my own I found it on another site. Is alright for me to transfer it to v5?)
BACK ONTO THE SUBJECT AT HAND.
I did what you said. I went into the editor and selected the colors via the color picker. It auto saved and I refreshed to find that nothing had changed.
;---;
This is the OP btw. I finally updated my original account.. xD
Annd no. I don't think I would use that code. Editing the codes with simple classes was really easy. That code seems to change member group colors and just the colors. You can do that in v4's original editor.

Why don't you um, just go to the member group page and add your colour in? :X You can also use Peter 's plugin to style member names so you can add css styling. :]

Hmm, could you quickly create a new blank theme (or change the default to one if you already have one) and then see if it is something with your current theme interfering? When you've set the colours, it should look like this for reference. And was there a specific code you were trying to get to work? I think all the codes themselves are shown in the rest of the page source as normal so I could find it there. I have no idea how the hack manager works Why don't you um, just go to the member group page and add your colour in? :X You can also use Peter 's plugin to style member names so you can add css styling. :] That's been tried, but it doesn't seem to be saving properly so could be a bug to report. And I did look at Peter's plugin but it looks to work by adding the specific members individually (even if you just have to select the multiple members), that doesn't entirely work specifically by member group. I might try looking at the

Shrike - it's saving properly for me? I had to refresh the page, though, for the colours I inputted to show up on the screen (after waiting for the autosave). I think peter is planing for having the group option rather than per member as per this post

I think peter is planing for having the group option rather than per member as per this post I've not run into any problems with it myself, LILITH was having issues with it not applying them properly. It works by adding a style attribute with the colour to each link and I couldn't find it doing that anywhere... I'll keep an eye out on that, I'd be interested in how he does it. Thanks for the update

Oh, I see. I got a little confused in this thread, tbh! :X Sorry. I've noticed that I had to get rid of any link styling via CSS for things to apply properly, maybe that is an issue?
& no problem :]

I don't know. But the plug-in should do fine for now. I don't anticipate very many members. Thank you Kami and Shrike. Oh and, I love Mercury. <3

If you're trying to change the color for everyone in a member group, just go Admin > Members > Member Groups > click on the color which pops up the color picker.
There is no plugin needed to do this. And if you want to change the color just on one particular theme, you go to the Themes > Theme Manager > Groups and Ranks, then do the same thing (click on the color, change it).
