Hi, Todge ~ is there any way there can be an option where members can award other members ~ just like PB Badges? And hopefully, like PB Badges, it would show who the award was from. I would like to get everyone involved, if possible, without too much additional work for you. Todge, I was reading back in the thread and noticed that you had mentioned a v2.4.2. I have gone back and downloaded v2.4.2 from your dropbox on the first page of the thread. The most recent one in the plugin library still says v2.4.1, even though there is already a version 2.4.1 below it, so I don't know for sure which version I updated to that was giving me the white box pop-ups. (I had used the install on forum arrow) Right now, using the one that I downloaded from you, everything seems to be working fine so, hopefully it's resolved and I won't need to bother you about the boxes again. Thanks. P. S. I agree with Luv, I would also like it if it were possible for member to give each other awards. Adding an option to allow normal members to give/take awards is possible, but it would mean undoing some changes I have already made to prevent just that.. I'll give it some thought and will hopefully add it to a later version. BUT, it will not be possible to display who awarded you, that would require either a second key or a massive change to the way the current code saves the info. Sorry. gtv22, the second 2.4.1 in the library was identical to the first, except for the fact that I removed the alerts I put in for testing.. I never gave it a new number as there were no changes to the code. Version 2.4.2 is a 'true' update as I changed the way the code targets the mini-profile.. Which is now in the library.

Good afternoon, Todge. I can understand if you don't wish to undo what you've tried to prevent.
But should you decide to, that would be great. As an admin, I don't wish to have it appear as if I have favorites. I would prefer our members to award one another. I find that to be a fairer system and much more community oriented. If they can do it, then I would feel better about doing it myself. I don't have any rules on my board other than to obey PB's TOS. They're sufficient and cover all the ground necessary. I really admin with a very light hand.
Should you decide to tweak this wonderful plugin back to what you wanted to prevent, please tag me if you would. And btw, I don't care if my members can't remove an award once given. That's how it should be anyway. As far as who gives an award, I can dedicate a sticky thread if they wish to acknowledge their "gifting" and to whom it was given.
Enjoy the remainder of your day.

Ahh, I see now. Thanks for the explanation. Thank you also for being willing to consider adding the ability for members to give awards at a later time.

I'd be happy with a change to allow members to award or take if possible and wouldn't care if it showed who gave it. I think if you're going to permit them to give it, it should be permitted to take away or at the very least past on to another, if the member chooses to do so.
Please tag me as well if you change this in favor of members' being able to do it. YAY!

I absolutely would not be able to use this plugin if members could give awards. I use it as an item inventory system; they buy an item, they get the "award" (item) for it. If you for some reason do this, I can't beg you enough to not make it a mandatory change. It would ruin a large portion of my forum that I've worked very hard on. Maybe just make it an option if you decide to do this. Thank you for hearing my side =)

If I add the ability for members to give awards:-
It will be an option you'd have to permit in the settings, so those that want it as staff only can still use it.
It will probably only allow members to give awards, not take them, as that could be open to abuse. A staff member can always remove an award if requested to do so.
And 'awarders' will remain anonymous, unless they post somewhere saying what they have done. Adding a second key would be too heavy a price to pay, in my opinion, for the majority that want it as staff only or not need the awarders named, and I'm not prepared to rewrite the way the code saves the awards. That would both break the code for existing users and severely restrict the amount of awards the code can handle.

Todge, I think you should allow members to pass on awards. There are some I'd like to use that could and should be past on from member to member. If we can't do that I probably won't use the feature or the plugin for that matter. It's not good if I, as the admin, am the only one able to do what the plugin currently allows. Thanks

And what happens if someone gets a bee in their bonnet, or you get a disgruntled member or spamhacker (I know it's not a real word) who decides to wipe out everyone's awards?

Hey Todge! How is it any different than the like / dislike system or the way karma was set up to give and take? We're adults on my site. Is it possible then to only allow them to take away what they gave and no more? I guess for me it's more important for the members to be able to give something AND re-gift something they have to another.

Like/dislike and karma are basically a points system. You can also only dislike someones post once, and the karma has a time delay stopping anyone from giving or taking more karma within a set time.
In the awards system you can give/take as many awards as you like.. You can totally wipe out a members awards in one go, then move onto the next member and do the same without any restrictions. With the karma system, all you'd have to do is reset the member's karma if someone did have the time and patience to totally screw it up, but with the awards system you'd need to know which awards and how many of each to correct it.
I will look into the 're-gift' idea, so all you can do is give another member a gift you currently own, but that is going to be tricky and will take a while, if I can get it to work.

Todge, I sure appreciate your trying. Like I said, and a few others agree, it would be nice if the members could give awards to each other and if possible and you're up to it, to be able to re-gift as well. You guys really are the best of the best!

Hi, Todge ~
I like your ideas and will accept whatever you come up with. As I first posted, I think it should be an option only and not mandatory for those who have obviously enjoyed your plug-in "as is" all of this time. And many have.
My members are enjoying your Slots plugin a lot and I know they will enjoy this, too ~ in whatever manner is easiest for you.
Thank you, again.

TinMachine, and to whom else it applies to.. I have made a simple plugin to display a pop-up notification when you have received or lost any awards. You can get the plugin hereAs mentioned when it was requested, please be aware that this uses another key, and it MUST be BELOW the Awards System plugin in your plugin list. I will try to update it to show which awards have been won/lost at a later date, but that will be difficult, so I'm not making any promises.

Thanks Todge Does it have to be directly below the Awards plugin or is anywhere below it fine? Nope, so long as it's below the Awards System it doesn't matter. It should be compatible with all versions of the Awards System. As I said above, I will try to update the plugin to display only those awards that have changed, but it will be difficult. But I have added an option to change the notification dimensions. You can download version 0.0.2 from the same link above.

It seems that the award plugin reacts oddly when also using the "sidebar redux", likely relating to use of the shoutbox. When I have "sidebar redux" activated and am at the page in which you can award a member or remove an award, the shoutbox will also display the awards. I can still award a member, but I cannot remove any. When I try, the awards do decrease, but it is unable to save. If I disable "sidebar redux", things work appropriately.
Workable, but I wanted to inform you of this issue. Love the plugin!
