You want your members to be able to take awards from each other but not give them?? Yes, but only designated awards. I guess ideally it would be up to the admin which awards could be stolen/taken but not given and which awards could be given and or taken or not. I know that sounds confusing, but some awards are earned through time, like the chess level awards and those would be given by the admin only and not stealable. Whereas something like a post of the day award might be something that a member could give to someone, but someone else might steal and give to somebody else. Does that make any sense? I'm seeing different uses for this plug in as I get more familiar with it. I was even thinking of a time limit for stealing and the award gets locked in, until the admin sets it in play again. The person that has it when the time expires might win or lose something. This plug in could take on a game role besides showcasing awards. In the timed events they could lose something (hot potato type game) or win something (egg hunt) So, any of this possible? Or do you just want to strangle me? lol

Hi Todge! I am quite thrilled with how far this code has come along since I last saw it at GH! I do have a question though. In the area where it says 'Received', is there any way to change that text to 'Rank'? We use a method not unlike Medals of Merit where you can have different ranks. Thanks

Hello TodgeI just just installed the Awards Notification Version 0.0.4 Beta (it is below the Awards System Plugin) and after awarding a member a couple of awards and ask them to log on to see the pop-up notification and they did not. Is it possible I have an older version and if so, is there a more updated one? Forum: army83.forums.net/

If this is the case, then Todge may want to see why this is happening or what is causing it to appear the next day.

The only reason that I can see for that happening is if there's a delay writing to the awards key, if that was happening you'd not see the new award in that member's profile.

Not quite sure I understand what you mean "you'd not see the new award in that member's profile"? Their profile shows those awards but no notification pop-up.

The protection now extends to 'giveable' awards. Adding a time delay before an award becomes locked in will not happen I'm afraid. That would require additional storage, which would either mean that future version of the code will not be compatible with the current version, or using another key, as well as a substantial re-write. Sorry.

Not quite sure I understand what you mean "you'd not see the new award in that member's profile"? Their profile shows those awards but no notification pop-up. That is exactly what I am saying.. The only way for the notification not to pop-up would be if the key had not been written to, but as the award IS in the profile, the pop-up should appear. The two keys are compared everytime the page loads, the only time that won't happen is if the notification key does not exist, then there will be nothing to compare.. If that is the case, the notification key is created and the pop-up will work there-after.. Now, if a member gets an award BEFORE that key is created, they will not get the pop-up, but any award there-after will be notified.

I did install the update but went back to 2.6.0 as I didn't know if 2.6.1 did that. Understand completely about the timed event. Any chance that could be a different plug in?

Version 2.6.1 added the award protection to the giveable awards.. So, the awards you mark as protected with the |x can not be removed from a member's profile by a non-staff member, nor can those awards be given to another by a non-staff member. All awards are still accessible to given or taken by your staff. Adding a time delay would be possible with a separate plugin, yes. Not a fun one to write though.

I would have to make the awards stealable, then protect the ones that I don't want to be stealable. Staff isn't allowed to give awards just the admin and I think I have that set up properly already. Does the above sound correct? Understand about the timed thing. Thank you! I'm tagging you because I wasn't sure if you had already seen the above post or not and I needed for you to see the edit below. EDIT: Todge I tested this and it didn't work. I set it to allow members to give/take awards and then I have one award that does not have the protection. The quote of the day award. I used my secondary account to try and take that award away and it didn't work. trueblueliberty.com/Something else. I have it set so that each member can only have 1 of each award, but I want the special one(s) to only be one award, not one for everyone. That is the whole point of stealing it, because only one member can have it. Is there any way to do this? Otherwise members can just give each other the quote of the day award and that defeats the whole purpose.
