BrianHi Brian. I have been struggling with this for days and don't know why certain things are happening. So, its time to go to the expert. I'm not sure where to start, but this involves your sidebar redux, so I am here in your support thread, but that isn't the only issue involved, but, it may impact the others. A theme request was made by sonsofsibelius.proboards.com/I made a theme, it is a border around the forum, this is my test site truebluelibertytest2.proboards.com/You may have join Sons Of Sibelius to view it there and see why its doing what it does there. I have widened the theme 3 times and every time it narrows up when they import it. I have no idea why its doing that. The latest version at Sons Of Sibelius is SOS 2. If you click my test site you can see how much more narrow it is. Also, since it is a site for music and composers, they post you tube videos. You can see here sonsofsibelius.proboards.com/thread/2506/sad-violin that the center column/forum narrows up and cuts off part of the video box. Its plenty wide at my test site, so why does it narrow up on import there? The next thing is the sidebars. If you look at their other themes, you will see that the sidebars go to the top. I don't know how to do that. Can you help with that, please. I'm going nuts with this. Thanks

Thanks The first one is because their sidebar widths are set to larger numbers than that of your test forum, and thus the forum in between is smaller. The forum's overall width is determined by the wrapper, and the sidebar takes up some of that width when you add it. The second is simply because their forum is too small to show the full video, so a scrollbar is added. They'd need to either reduce the width of their sidebars, get rid of one of them to accommodate the video, or the layout needs to be changed to account for the reduced width.

Brian, if you check one of their other themes you will see that the video fits just fine. And they want the sidebars to go to the top. Right now on my theme at their site the sidebars look/act like pillars supporting the banner as it stretches across the top of the site and over both sidebars. They want, like in the their other themes for the sidebars to go to the top of the forum and have the banner short and sitting between the sidebars. Does that help explain what they are looking for better?

I mean, I not sure what you can see with your capabilities, but there is a brown theme and if you look at that you will see. I do know how to remove some of the padding in the sidebar so maybe I get them to remove a couple of pixels from the the sidebars and a few more from the spacing between the columns and hopefully that will be enough. No one is around there at the moment (Britain). So, I'll try the move banner thing on my test site and see if it does the trick. Will let you know.

Note that the Move Banner option will only work if the banner container div and the navigation menu div are both inside a <header> block, which you seem to have removed from the Forum Wrapper template. The video is cut off on the brown theme as well.

I didn't notice the video cutting off in their other themes. Brian is there a way to reduce the size of you tube videos, even just say 50 pixels?

<header> needs to be inserted before <div id="banner-container">. </header> needs to be inserted after the closing </div> tag of <div id="navigation-menu">. Ok... I re-inserted the header tag, looked around and was uncertain as to where to put the closing tag and found one, quite a bit lower. So, I didn't add another one, I just left that alone and saved and the sidebar columns went up to the top like they were supposed to. I do have another question though. I understand that the forum wrapper determines the width of the theme, but if I have the correct dimensions in the wrapper and the proper width for sad theme in the forum width in the visual editor, shouldn't it import that way? I'm still confused on why it imports differently. You can see the difference from border to edge of screen. Thanks for telling me about the missing header. I don't know what happened to it. I may have gotten lost a long time ago. I appreciate your help. I just want to help them get their site to look the way they want. Thank you so much for your help.

I see absolutely no difference in their widths. Both forums show as exactly the same width using that theme. The only difference is the width of the center of the forum which, again, is due to the sidebars being set to a larger width on their forum.

Hopefully I an squeeze enough out to accommodate the you tube video. Thanks Brian.

Ok just looked at the post and can't see any changes.... mmmm btw just off out to College... late learner... so I might not be able to answer for a while.. Kriss I changed every instance of recent-threads to recent-threads-side. Ok now I see it but I am sure when I looked it hadn't changed... which could be true if the cache didn't like the new page... I will change that in the morning... just back from college and knackered! Once again thanks for all your help Kriss
