I am the admin of my forum wvwaforum.proboards.com & several members, including myself, are having problems connecting to the forum via a mobile device. It seems that people are having trouble logging in when going to the forum in a browser & also using the Proboards app. It seems that I have problems logging in when I try to access it using my cell phone data, but I'm able to login when I'm connected via my home internet wifi - I don't know if that was just coincidence or what. And this is both when viewing the forum in an internet browser on my phone or the mobile Proboards app. It seems that no one is experiencing problems logging in using a computer.
Anyways, I really need help figuring this out asap, because my forum members are getting really upset. Here's a post on my forum about the issues they're having:
Are you or any of the users affected connecting using AT&T as the carrier for your mobile device? Several AT&T users have reported issues with logging in. This is caused by how AT&T handles cookies with their service.
Unfortunately, the problem would have to be resolved on their end if this is the case.
Hey Brian Ordonez... Yes, it seems as the all of the people (including myself) have AT&T as our cell phone providers. And those of us having the problem logging in are having the trouble when using their data service, when we try to login using wifi it works.
When accessing the forum on my phone with my data plan (I have AT&T) I can view the forum on my web browser, but I can't login, & I can't access the forum at all the Proboards app. But, when I connect on my phone with internet wifi, I can both access the forum on my Proboards app as well as login to the forum on the web browser. I talked to AT&T & they really couldn't help me. I'm not sure where the issue is... but I've tried connecting both ways several times (data vs wifi) and have had the same results consistently. And of course the times I would need to access the forum using the data plan is when I'm out somewhere & don't have access to wifi & I could just as easily use a computer.... so this obviously makes it tough to not have access to the forum via my cell.
This problem seems to only have started in the past few days... I was able to access the forum on the app & login in the web browser using my AT&T data plan before... and my members have only complained about this in the past day or so.
Do you have any idea what has changed? Do you know what the exact problem is, even if you can't fix it? That way, I can talk to AT&T with a better idea of what's going on so that they can fix it. The last time I talked to them, they seemed to think that it was nothing they could do on their end & if I was only having trouble with the forum, but I could access other websites, then they thought it had to do with Proboards.
And you're sure that it's nothing within the Proboards coding and operation that would cause it not to work on mobile devices using data plans instead of wifi?
Somehow, we have got to find a solution to this... it seems to be a big problem for AT&T users... and for me & my forum members it's recent. My members aren't going to be happy if I can't fix this for them soon...
Just talked to several different AT&T tech & data support agents. They walked me through the whole process of turning my phone on & off, clearing the history/cache/cookies, making sure the box was checked to accept cookies. They had me go to a test website using data to see if I could get to it. And they said basically since I could connect to the internet using data & I can go to other websites that it's nothing on their end & there's nothing they can do. They said that since it's a specific website that I'm having trouble with, that it has to be on that end. I don't know what to do. I was able to login to the forum using data 4 days ago, but now I can't.
And it seems that a whole bunch of AT&T customers are having the same issue. We're all having the trouble when trying to login with our AT&T data plans. Same thing, when I try to login to the forum using the browser, the page just refreshes & doesn't log me in. When I try to access the forum using the app I just get this message "Failed to connect to forum, please check with the forum administrator if this problem persists."
I know Proboards is going through some upgrades & different changes... I'm wondering if something got messed up in that process. Can someone please help me resolve this issue? Thanks!
Im in the same boat, cant log in and have at&t, as an admin of my board its really frustrating. I have tried about 10 browsers messed with a ton of setting of the board, while at a pc. But tonight I see thats its an at&t problem, yet I can log on to several other websites. Pretty easy to guess what at&t is gonna say, I would also guess it might be easier for Proboards to come up with a fix than the help desk clerk answering phones for at&t.

Like I mentioned previously, there's not much we can do about it as it's an intermittent problem dependent on both the carrier's location and whether or not they're injecting their login cookie along with ours. The AT&T service local to the ProBoards office allows users to login successfully. whereas farther east the issue begins to arise.
An updated version of the app is planned to be released soon. However, there is no guarantee the update will remedy your issue.

Just wanted to update this with a post that I made in a similar report. This is for users that are having troubles logging into your account over AT&T's data network. If you are using another internet service provider and are experiencing login issues, please create a new thread as these steps are not for you:
Because of the amount of requests we've received over the past week, I've pleaded with our system admins to look into this once more to see if there's anything at all we can do on our end to help the issue. So I'm going to need some info if it's possible:
- Visit the forum and attempt to login using your username and password. Once that's done, note the time that's displayed on your computer.
- Assuming you still were unable to stay logged into the forum this time, send me a PM letting me know the URL of the forum, the time you tried to log into the forum (along with your local time zone), as well as what your IP address is.
I'll then forward that info on to our system admins to look into it further
