Just upgraded Friday night.
When you (me and my members) click in a thread, it takes you back to the beginning of the thread rather than the most recent posts you have previously read. Is that a bug, or are we doing something wrong?
Thanks.

What exactly are you clicking? If it's just the thread title, that's how it's always worked unless you had a code that changed it to do otherwise.

Hi Brian. Not sure what all the members of my forum are doing, but I typically click the title of the thread itself and you never know where in the thread you will wind up. Could be the beginning, could be the middle. It's rarely where you last left off. In V4, it took you to the last post (or thread page) you accessed. It was a wonderful thing.
Is there a more efficient way to access the thread so you can be taken to the last place you checked? It was like an automatic bookmark.

I asked this earlier and got no response either. This is something that is bugging me too with V5. Used to take you to the top of the latest page of posts, not it reverts you to the beginning of the thread which can be quite annoying on some threads that are 100+ posts long...
Thanks, Sam

V5 should remember where you left off in a thread, and I believe it behaves similarly to V4. When you are viewing a board, there are a list of threads. In the cell that contains the thread title, you will often see these two other "elements": - Mini Pagination (under the thread title)
- NEW icon (to the left of the thread title)
If you click anywhere in the thread title cell that is not the NEW icon or the Mini Pagination, it will take you to the first page of the thread. If you click one of the page numbers in the Mini Pagination it will take you to that page in the thread. If you click the NEW icon it will take you to the oldest unread post. If you've read everything in the thread, the new icon will not appear. Also if the thread is older than 28 days, there will be no new icon. So here's a couple examples of how ithe NEW icon should work. Say you have a thread that you've never read before and it has 3 pages.- You click the new icon once. It takes you to the first page of the thread. You do not read the 2nd or 3rd page.
- You go back to view the board that has the thread and you click the new icon again. Now you get sent to the 2nd page. You do not read the 3rd page.
- You go back to view the board that has the thread and you click the new icon again. Now you get sent to the 3rd page.
- You go back to view the board that has the thread and the new icon is gone for that thread because you viewed everything on that thread.
- Now another member posts in the thread. There is still 3 pages in the thread.
- Now when you view the board that has the thread, the new icon is back. You click the new icon and it will take you to page 3 again but it ALSO auto-scrolls the window to the new post because that is where you last left off.
I recommend you keep the above in mind when clicking the new icon for threads. Try finding some "new" threads in Support and test the new icon functionality. If you notice anything wrong, please describe to me what you did in detail and include the forum url. It would be awesome if you can include step by step instructions on how to reproduce your issue if possible.

the most liked feature for our 4.5 board was the placing of the 7 most recent posts at the top of the forum and a "new" icon to the left of those not read. Is anything like that forthcoming?

I don't believe we have anything planned for this. Of course you can always visit the recent posts page of the forum, or you could create a custom page and add a "Recent Posts" widget along with anything else you want on the custom page. If that does not satisfy your needs, you can create a new thread in the Feature Requests board. Also, to help us better help you, please create new threads in the appropriate board if you are asking a question. That way we can focus on helping the creator of the thread with their question.

I installed a Recent threads button in the navigations bar on our forum but the icon feature doesn't seem to be working in there or in the when you list the threads inside any particular board it only works on the main page. Also when we clicked on recent threads in V4 there was a last post link on the right hand side of eack thread that you could click but it is no longer there, is it still available in V5 and if so where can I find the coding for it? hobosinfrance.proboards.com/Thanks

This does not exist inside a board, but does outside of a board (On the main page, not on the thread lists). This should be relatively easy to do as a template mod, or as a plugin. I would make a request on the appropriate board.
