Hi. I got surprised how the new calendar works now. I guess I failed to test that part before we upgraded. It creates threads on every event where as they were just events that do not belong to any forum on v4.
I would like to know if there is a way to not do that?
We usually put public holidays in the calendar and we certainly don't want to keep talking about every public holiday. Even if we lock the topic, it will just be treated as garbage threads whereas it will be helpful to see just on the calendar.
I'm now leaning to creating a whole forum just for calendar events but that would really be a waste of space.
Any thoughts?

Hi aBiSh, Unfortunately a thread is required for each calendar event. For events that you don't need discussions on, though, you can put those events in a hidden board so that they are not displayed on your actual forum

Hi Ricky! Thanks for your reply.
I did try but noticed that that's what you already did with the calendar events from v4. There is a Calendar board that is hidden which I suppose lists all the events.
I would like to know, how do I show that hidden Calendar board on the options when creating a new calendar event?

If you visit the Structure > Categories & Boards area found in your admin panel, you should see a Calendar category and board listed at the very bottom of all of your other boards and categories. Hover over the category or board with your mouse and then click the icon that will appear to the right. In the settings, un-hide the board and category and you should be able to select it from the list for the new events that you create

Yes, I kinda know how to unhide categories and boards. My question wasn't clear. I'm sorry.
I wanted to know how to show it on the list of boards when creating a calendar event but not show this calendar board on the main page. Is it possible? Is there a way of doing that?

At this time you'll have to temporarily un-hide it first so that it will appear on the list, then add your events, then re-hide it so it no longer appears on the forum.

Oh okay. Guess that's the only way for now. Does this mean you're going to add this to your list of future developments? That would really be helpful. I'm sure it's not only us who would benefit of this feature. Thank you so much Ricky for all your help!

I'm not sure if it will be possible, because hidden boards are meant to be hidden. I would suggest making a new topic in our feature requests area to get the conversation going with our developers. Even if we're not able to make hidden boards appear on the list, they might be able to come up with another method for this

Perhaps these suggestions may help: 1. Un-hide the category (and board) and choose "custom" and add just your desired group/rank to it that can see it. 2. If you do the latter but don't want to see all the plethora of cats/boards, create another "admin"-like account that you use for normal postings and use main account for admin tasks and disable it from the "custom" category choices. Hope these ideas help. Andrew

Thank you Andrew for your suggestion. That's what I did yesterday based on Ricky's suggestion. The calendar forum is showing on moderators group only. I have a different problem now so I'm just waiting for their reply. Thank you for all your help.
