Things to Know!
Here's what wildmaven, a great ProBoards member and admin, had to say about v5 and the upgrade for members who might be nervous about the change.
To all the members out there who are having fears about this, let me tell you this: I know absolutely squat about coding. v5 seemed a little intimidating to me at first, but I quickly figured it out. Many in the support board were very quick and very accommodating when I had questions. You'll all be fine. If I can do it, so can you. I'm a 48 year old who doesn't even own a cell phone. C'mon, you all certainly already have an edge on me. 
And other members too...
Happy admin here! Forum is converted, logged in, plugins and theme imported, shoutbox activated, settings done, member groups adjusted...and has taken less than an hour. Just wanted to report "all's well" before going back and importing more themes, making a couple custom pages, and continuing with getting everything like I want it. Well done, Proboards Staff!
Really enjoying the v5 version of proboards.
Really like having larger avatars and options for more smileys.
Very nicely done with the themes options as well.
When I create new themes I can adjust the forum width accordingly for that specific theme.
Also, really love the shoutbox!
When I first saw the changes in V5 I was ready to chuck it all in, I never thought I would get used to the new plug ins and the way the
admin panels work.. however 3 days later and I cannot thank you all enough, brilliant, brilliant change Thank you
When I opted for v5, I was unsure about it and I have to admit, during the first view days I was unhappy as everything was new. But the more I got the know it, the more I got to love it. In my opinion, it's the most advanced and modern free forums software out there. The admin panel is easy to understand and with the plugins, you basically don't kneed any special computer skills to improve your forum. I also adore the notifications, it's lovely to know where you were quoted. The participation button does a great job, too. And if there are any questions, I always get help in the support forums.
So thank you. If you are on v4 and are unsure about upgrading to v5 - do it. At first, everything will be new but after a few days or weeks, you will never ever want to use a different software/host. In every non Proboards forum, I find myself missing the v5 features.

Things to Know!
- If you already upgraded, then you already have v5.
- New v5 forums can be signed up for on www.proboards.com starting at 9PM PST 4/28/2013
- Conversions of existing v4 forums will start Monday morning at 9AM PST 04/29/2013.
- Conversions of all existing v4 forums could take up to 3 weeks. Please be patient.
- An individual forum usually takes less than 15 minutes to convert. Extremely large forums may take up to 40 minutes.
- You can convert your forum to v5 when you want by going to your admin panel and following the steps.
- BetaZone still exists for those who want to experiment. It will remain online until December.
- There is an option to opt out of the upgrade. But only until the end of the year.
