How to auto organize threads alphabetically in v5?

Hi all!

I had some of my boards organize the threads in reverse alphabets instead of by newest message in old version. I can't find that option in new one and even the boards that had that setting before are now "broken".

How can I have threads auto organized in reverse alphabets in v5?

Unfortunately you can't do this or similar.
The reason is because the live search is MUCH better, so the PB team figured this wasn't needed.
In a board for example, click the search icon () and you will be given a popup and can search that board by creator, labels, polls, and more.

Search is useless in the purpose I was using the alphabetical organizing for. I organize virtual racing competitions and I had my race boards organized by race dates with newest race on the top. Removing that option RUINED ALL MY RACE BOARDS!

Can this be dome with a header/footer code?

It's possible, if you had a plugin created to do so, to sort the visible threads on a single board page alphabetically, but it wouldn't be able to grab the threads from subsequent pages.

With that said, I checked our feature tracker and did note that sorting boards by alphabet is a highly requested feature and will be added in future updates for sure.

I just took a look and sort of figured out a temporary solution until we can implement the sorting feature - there are now checkboxes next to threads that you can use to moderate many threads at once - it's not an elegant solution, but if you make every thread a sticky on that board, you can then manually organize them via the "bump" feature available to moderators and admins. Since the threads are stickied, they won't re-arrange as members post.

jsskppnn, David Clark mentioned in his post above that this is a requested feature that will come back in a future V5.x release. The best advice is to keep tabs on the Development Blog as they post fairly regularly new features and fixes to the V5 software.

Hi jsskppnn,

This topic was created before we had that label, we're well aware of the demand for this feature though so it is on our internal list. I have gone ahead and labeled this now though just for the sake of doing so
