Tim Camara, relax a bit after your week. This isn't earth shattering or a feature of necessity. More a vanity thing. I've had a favicon even in v4 on my board ~ It always showed in IE and FF. Never Chrome ~ even to this date. It's been showing in IE up until about a week or so ago. It no longer shows up in IE but continues to show up in FF. But the odd thing is ~ it still shows up on my v5 test board in IE ~ live-learn-luv.boards.net/And it's even showing in IE with the angry bear message in my betazone board ~ townsquareexiles.freemessageboards.com/So in a nutshell, it's not showing up on my real, main forum any longer in IE, even with the same code and code location as the forums where it is showing up. A mystery.

Not the first time, sadly, Thomasss. Ricky is usually a very good detective in ferreting these things out. Always so odd. Same imported themes but different results! And always minor things ~ that majorly bug me!

add in the following line of HTML to your Forum Wrapper template in the <head> section It's looks like it's in your <header>, not your <head>. Also, for IE, to update it you often have to delete and recreate your bookmark, just FYI.

Is it possible what you are seeing is just because of a skin selection choice?
Sometimes a simple solution works when you are looking for something more difficult.
I have two themes on one of my sites that use different favicons. Depending on which skin you are using, it will show one or the other. If your site doesn't have a favicon specified for a theme, it may simply be that the favicon is disappearing because you don't have one specified for that theme. Then it will just use the one for Proboards.
If you are using an animated icon for the tabs, it is best to have two separate statements. One for a simple .ico and another statement for the animated icon. Just put the statement for the simple icon first. The browsers that will recognize it will use the animated ones, and the browsers that don't will load the simpler one.

Thank you, Tim Camara and Nogo. All of my themes have the info in the forum wrapper and it's not an animated favicon. But all good "food for thought" comments. It's just odd that it shows on both of my test forums with the exact themes, but not in my "real forum". It wouldn't bother me if all my forums were all missing the favicon in IE, but they're not. It's also odd that there was no "new" button showing for this. I just happened to catch Nogo's post on the home page.

Which forum is your 'real forum'? On chitchat4u.freemessageboards.com/, I see the favicon code in the <header> section, which is incorrect. It needs to be in the <head> section, between the <head> and </head> tags.

I finally found where your link for the .ico was. Way down at the very bottom of the header. I know you have so many themes, it would take a very long time to update them all, but moving it up to the top does seem like the solution to your problem.

And, of course, you are absolutely right. But . . . they've worked all this time where they are . . . and are still working on the test boards. I had the favicon on v4 ~ and it worked. And we didn't have access to the head at that point. The only browser that didn't capture it was Chrome . . . and still is. So one of the first questions I asked support when I came here to start my test boards was where the favicon went in v5. I was told it should go where I placed it. And it did work . . . and still does . . . on everything but my real board, TSE. Three silly letters . . . giving me such angst. Except on FF. Where they show up on all the boards. I should just switch to that browser and ignore what's going on elsewhere.

Have you tried just putting the link in the Global header like we did in V4? I think in your case, it might work. The links in the Themes would probably over ride the setting, but if the Forum did not set them at all, it would probably use one put in the Global header settings. Not the way I would suggest doing it, but with 57 themes, it may be your best option. Just don't try to change the .ico to another one this way. Then you will probably get it to work sometimes, and not at others.

Now that's a brilliant idea. It beats the 57 template route, Nogo. It's always worked up until a week or so ago ~ (and still is in FF). I have added some additional plug-ins during the past two weeks. They could be the buggers causing the new bug in IE. Thank you so much! I'll let you know how it works out.

As promised, an update, Nogo. Placing the link in the global header had no effect on IE. So . . . . I took the time to do the labor intensive change on every Forum Wrapper to move the link to the head section. And after all that . . . the favicon still doesn't show in IE. At least not for me. I appreciate your input and the time you took to help. But there must be something in my forum that I've added the last week or so that is in conflict with the favicon showing in IE.

It's working in IE for me: If you're still not seeing it, try deleting your Temporary Internet Files (Options > Internet Options > General Tab > Browsing History section > Delete > check everything except 'preserve favorites website data', 'form data' and 'passwords').
