Hi guys, I have same problem as Rosefriend here: support.proboards.com/thread/469916Spybot has detected spyware Anchor.HSS every time I used it. It belongs to: PUPSC - it stands for potentionally unwanted program. I use other programs to detect malware/virus/spyware/adaware as well. Programs are Spybot SD2, Malwarebytes, Advanced SystemCare 6, IOBit MalwareFighter, AVG, Super AntiSpyware. Only Spybot SD (1 - the old one) has detected the same problem again and again. Every time I decide to scan my computer, I go to safe mod, since it is able to catch more unwanted stuff in my PC. Only spyware I have ever had removing was this one. Any suggestions please? Thanks.

Hi faergor, Some spyware and malware can be difficult to fully remove, the only advice I can give here is basically what you've already been doing which is to run a full scan in safe mode and have your programs remove it that way. If it keeps returning, then it would seem to be a pretty aggressive piece of adware that is able to re-apply itself after it's removed. If that's what's happening, I'd recommend contacting one of the companies that create one of the security programs you use for further assistance in getting the spyware removed. I do want to note that no malicious software is being distributed by ProBoards.

faergor I would suggest; first run the spybot in safe mode and then if it keeps coming back. Then try to see the directory path or register path for which the file reside. Go and delete them manually. It won't come back. What happen is when you run the spybot and remove from spybot help; some of the folders are not delete. In order not to get the warning and spyware, you should delete the file manually. For this please make sure you know the directory path, you can find this on spybot result. Inorder to get in register file, type this command in run box. "regedit"

One thing not mentioned is the need to turn off system restore. System restore maintains a shadow copy of everything you have including virus and adware. Turn it off before doing a scan and removal. Once the system is bug free, you can turn it back on. It will then start afresh in making a shadow copy. Note date and time so you will know when your best clean copy can be used to restore if ever needed.

Thanks for the info, longtime, though this topic is a few months old and faergor likely has the issue long resolved.
