without using the plugin available on iod is there a way of putting an image at the bottom of each category, like in v4.5 you could have a header and footer image. i have a "div" and "css" code i wanna use but dont know where to put it

Well, you really could just go to your template and add your div's (in red) and then add your css to the bottom of your style sheet:
Admin> Themes> Layout Templates>Home
And find this and add the div's like so:
$[news] {foreach $[category]} $[category.anchor] <div class="my_header"></div> <div class="container boards"> <div class="title-bar bbcode"><h2><div class="title_wrapper">$[category.display_name]</div></h2></div> <div class="content cap-bottom"> $[category.board_list] </div> </div> <div class="my_footer"></div>
If you are wanting the header to replace the bar that has your category name it it, that would be different then above or if you also want them to show above other things like the info center, above thread titles and such, then you may want to take a different approach. But the above will do it above and below each cat. You may have to add margins in your css to get them positioned perfectly.

There's also the pure CSS method of header/footer/sides by Shrike. You can specify exactly what has the header/footer images (so categories, news, quick reply, posts etc etc etc).

Alright, thanks for the pm. I have the header part figured out but still have to figure out the footer part but I'm getting Cloud err bear things on my test site so thought I'd post what I have so far. The head image comes in three parts. To put the middle image in, go to: Admin > Themes> Advanced Styles & CSS> Visual Editor> and click on body>containers>title bar Put the middle image in there and then set the Background Repeat to repeat and then set the Background Position to center top. You may want to set your background color to transparent. Save that. Now to get the left and right images in click on your style sheet and at the bottom put this: .title_wrapper{ background: url(' leftimage.png'), url( 'http://rightimage.png'); background-position: left top, right top; background-repeat: no-repeat, no-repeat; width:100%; height:53px; margin-bottom:-16px; text-align:center; } Put your left image where I have the blue and your right image where I have the green. Edit: I had to add the margin-bottom, which you may need to adjust and a height in there too.Now on my test site I did have to increase my width to more than 100% but probably because I've changed so many things on that test site that something probably isn't set right. I'll go see about the base images in a bit, once my test site starts acting normal again.

I just went back and added that to my post before I saw your post. I also used a margin-bottom on there too. Not sure if that is what you had to do as well. I'm still having trouble with my site. Will post as soon as I can work out the footer part. Edit: Smudges, I'm not sure if this is the best way to do this but it works for me. The footer doesn't seem to have a middle image so you are going to do basically the same thing as you did with the header css except we are making a new class: .bottom_cat{ background: url('http://leftfooter.png'), url('http://rightfooter.png'); background-position: left top, right top; background-repeat: no-repeat, no-repeat; width:100%; height:25px; margin-top:-10px; margin-bottom: 8px; } And then you'll go to your templates and into the home template and add find this area and add the blue: <div class="content cap-bottom"> $[category.board_list] </div> </div> <div class="bottom_cat"></div>{/foreach} Are you wanting this on your info center, in threads, boards, etc?

1 slight problem Tumbleweed i clicked on one of the categories and i notice it doesnt have the lft and the rght images in the header, it looks like it is only covering the home page and nothing else Yep, I know. I just now saw Stinky666 post. I'm trying to find Shrike's post but no luck. I'd like to look at it to see if that is the way to go instead of me picking all these separate classes to target all these area's. I think we need to change that first css class I gave you to .container>.title-bar but I need to test it out. Edit, well that puts it on all the title places but now I'm missing the right image and the middle is gone. More testing needed or find Shrikes post. lol O.K. Smudges, Change that first class I gave you to: .title-bar and I may be able to work out just css for the bottom. Sorry, I'm still kind of learning things too.

I edited my previous post but did you want to try Shrikes. It looks like exactly what you want.
