Your rules is one of the things I went to first look at. I skimmed through, but I understood it pretty well and it does cover pretty much everything that needs to be covered when you are first starting off on a site. Your banner looks great and I love the background on the forum. The transparent really adds effect. I see the shoutbox, but there's really nothing I can see inside. I don't know if its my eyes or just that way, but you may want to brighten up the green a little bit or brighten up the blue just a little bit. Other then that it looks great.

Thank you for the review! I myself am pretty impressed with the work we've done to the site. Our rules were what I was worried about, to be honest. I recently went back and trimmed some of the fat off of the rules paragraphs to make them less daunting to read. As for the chatbox issue: I will talk to my Co-Admin about it and see what we can do. I can see the text, but it is indeed rather dark. Unfortunately, most brighter text colors end up being eye-killers. But, we'll see what we can do. Again, thank you for your review. Myself and my Staff always appreciate feedback on our work. It helps us improve the quality of the site for everyone, guests and members included.

Hiya, Ward! The logo is very nice, the artist did a good job, though it looks a bit odd being narrower than the space it's supposed to be filling. Making it larger or the forum narrower to have the two fit together more proportionately might look more appealing. The transparent boards are very, very hard to read. Black text on that grey-toned background is nearly indecipherable. I'd suggest making the background for the boards more opaque and maybe lightening the text for the board descriptions. =) The background is really nice but right now it's acting almost like a big logo. It's showing so much in it that it's detracting from the actual site. I'd suggest something more subdued, maybe a subtle pattern or just mountains or something that doesn't hurt the site. Plus, if you do raise the opacity of the board backgrounds, you aren't going to be able to see what the background image is of and it'll just look cluttered. Maybe a simple, metal texture would look nice? The hover on the boards is.. abrupt and a bit startling. The sudden bright cream color definitely seems out of place and brings down the overall design. Something more suited to the site, such as green or grey, or maybe no highlight at all would be a great step. The category names are a bit hard to read as that dark gold on dark grey. Brightening up the gold or changing it to a creamy color will probably make that more legible. And finally, I'm gonna do it again I'm sorry, the background to the shoutbox is fantastic but it is hard to read messages that go on top of the bright blue. =/ I really do love it and hate to say dull it, but I think it's necessary for the messages to be more easily read. You have a lot of potential here, just a few visibility problems for the most part! =)

Thanks for the advice. I'll see if my Co-Admin and I can't work out these issues in the design so that the site is more appealing and does not cause one to strain to read. I appreciate the advice. We have a larger banner and I'll be putting it up today. It should be better suited for it. One of the last things I had the graphic artists do (a mod actually expanded the final version for us). I'll update the OP when the edits have been accomplished. Again, thank you for the review. Was all okay with the site's content? Any discrepancies or issues along those lines? Or board / category set-up?

Just a few suggestions:
- I think white text instead of black would look much better on that background. - Try using darker borders, or no borders. The white really clashes. - I cannot read the text in the shoutbox, the green on the brown is barely visible, however I can see the usernames. - Try adding this bit of CSS into your stylesheet to make the background fill the screen, I am on a 2560x1440 monitor, and the background doesn't fill the whole thing. (I'm sure most of your users aren't on a large screen, but it's a good practice because you want to consider every member).
body { background-size: cover;} Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see about applying them to our site and will discuss some of it with my co-admin. EDIT: Fixed the background issue as per your suggestion by adding in the code in the Stylesheet. Just to make sure it worked, I'd recommend you check the site again and lemme know if the change worked.
