In 1861 the Bellefonte Academy was founded by Ichabod Bellefonte. It was meant to be a sanctuary for specially gifted teens and adults, and quickly the school thrived to become one of the top boarding schools within their field. Remained hidden from the general population, the school itself was placed in the mountain area close to Kalispell, Montana.
It's no secret that people that are special are often frowned upon by the general population. The Bellefonte Academy offers shelter and help to these gifted human beings, children, teens and adults alike.
The school itself works like any other boarding school would with housing, students, teachers and staff. The school offers a busy day-to-day routine with classes, training sessions and school clubs. The children and teens come here to learn how to control themselves and master their abilities. And of course, the students and staff are more than welcome to take a trip down to the busy town life of Kalispell.
When someone's ability manifests, usually around the age of 11-15, a recruiter is sent out to collect the child(ren) and bring them back to the school where they can properly learn to control their power by professional faculty staff.
The school offers a battle arena for everyone to compete, and the arena hosts monthly competitions as well. This is of course voluntary and in no way forced upon the students, teachers or staff.
So, what side are you on? Are you a troubled teenager, trying his or her best to cope with their ability? Maybe you're a teacher, a trainer or another part of the school staff? Perhaps you're a local, unaware of the specially gifted people inhabiting Kalispell? You can be whoever you want to be - but remember, with every power comes responsibility.-----
As of April 3rd, 2014 mutants became known to the general public. A group called SPECTRE made their move towards Montana and set up their headquarters there. Completely against mutants and everything they stand for, SPECTRE made an obvious threat that shook the Bellefonte Academy into action. The school's first move was to arrange for a group of 17+ students to form and create a security squad in the honor of making sure that the rest of the school was kept safe.
Within weeks, a group of students were kidnapped by SPECTRE and brought to their headquarters where the same students got locked up in a cell, and then later tortured. As the weeks passed, people started noticing their disappearance, and after over a month in captivity, the kidnapped students was rescued and brought back to the academy, only to find the school under attack. Student, staff and SPECTRE agents were killed, which sent the media into a furious rage about how a group of elite soldiers could possibly make such a stupid move that ended up with innocent children losing their lives.
Without another choice, SPECTRE was forced to pull back and return to wherever they came from. Mutants are currently neutral in the aspect of what the general population think about them, and the recent events with SPECTRE have given them a lot of sympathy. There's still those who doubt that mutants exist, as there has been little proof saying otherwise.
Now that things have calmed down, and Prom is over, the Bellefonte Academy gets ready to enjoy summer and the two month long vacation from the usual school life. Summer is about to roll in, and months filled with sun and joy awaits.-----With the new school year of 2014 came a lot of new changes to Bellefonte Academy. With the two Bellefonte twins taking over the throne of the school, they made sure to make the school a much safer place after what happened with SPECTRE. Among those changes were things like school uniforms, higher security, ID cards and the IMAC event.
The IMAC (International Mutant Athletic Competition) event was a challenge that started in October between the various mutant schools across the world. The schools sent over representatives to Bellefonte to both compete and create lasting bonds between many of the schools. But, the IMAC event didn't bring just glory and opportunities; it also brought with it a lot of people who didn't exactly have the school's best intentions in mind.
During the competition, someone lit the school on fire (as of January 22nd), and chaos naturally happened. It only took the security squad a few hours to get everything under control, but once again, changes were made. The fire left the arena and kitchen under construction, leaving the library almost unharmed, though there has been reports that these will be finished within weeks to a month, or two.
The twins have stepped down from their position and become college students (effective immediately). In their place, a selective group of parents, donors and school staff (all NPC's) have created a board that works together with the twins and the student council, and are now running the school in the twins' place.
Now, with the chaos under control, and the "bad people" chased away, Bellefonte has accepted transferals from some of the international students and staff, and are working towards happier, and brighter times. The annual spring break is coming up, and then there's prom following after it.-----Three years has passed. A lot has happened in this time frame. A lot has changed and many people have been affected by it. It's a brand new world. A new world many, perhaps, never expected. Or maybe many have been waiting for a breath of fresh air. A world where everything has changed.Welcome to Bellefonte: The next generation.THE FIRST YEAR:Three years ago the Inherited let out the secret about mutants in an interview. At first, Bellefonte managed to keep a lid under it, but within a few weeks, the rumors spread and tapes of the interview was leaked. The government quickly got involved and there was an uproar. Humans were terrified of the news - although, not everyone believed this to be true. Some even traveled to Kalispell to find out on their own, and when they did, the entire world quickly followed. Mutants became public knowledge, despite their best efforts and school after school was revealed. Mutants was now a thing to be feared, studied and idolized.
The first months was spent debating and planning how to deal with the change, all the while keeping the various schools safe from harm and prosecution. Many of the school’s and communities finest politicians had to step forward in order to be the voice of the many mutants scattered across the globe. The fight was hard and it took a lot of effort and time, but quickly, mutants became a force to be reckoned with, all the while trying to prove to humankind that they meant them no harm, and all they really wanted was to co-exist.THE SECOND YEAR:Due to all the many changes in the world, the council was disbanded, and once again, the Bellefonte heir, Erika Conner (Neè Bellefonte) was reinstated as Headmistress of the school to help guide the new and old mutants in the direction of the new world they all found themselves living within.
The biggest change that occurred the second year was that mutants had finally and officially become a part of the world-wide community, and as such, Kalispell had already started expanding. At first, there was plenty of tourists, but many also decided to move to see the mutants in their own habitat, along with showing their support. Kalispell grew and grew, opening up several opportunities for various jobs, such as law enforcement, business owners and workers, construction workers, health workers, etc. As Kalispell grew, it also became a bustling college town, both for non-powered and mutants alike. The entire city economy rose to great heights along with the many changes, and as did the population.
Kalispell quickly morphed from being a sleepy, former logging and mining town to a bustling college city. Kalispell became a city everyone wanted to go to, be it for holidays, actually moving and starting/joining businesses or simply visiting during spring break.
Naturally, there are still people opposed to mutants living freely and there will always be those who want to get rid of them or put them away. There are people who voice their opinions loudly and violently, and ever since mutants became known to the public, some people took extreme measures in doing exactly that. A group that formed during the first year quickly stepped forward, known as AMA (anti-mutant activists). At first, they only did protests, but when more and more people started accepting mutants, they grew in numbers and in threats. Mutants were attacked in the streets and schools often experienced both shunning in the social medias along with various, minor attacks.THE THIRD YEAR:During the third, and final year, an epidemic spread throughout the mutant community, causing people’s powers to go haywire and many of them also had their genetic codes changed - some lost their powers entirely, some got either weaker or stronger powers and some powers changed entirely. This naturally only strengthened AMA’s cause, seeing as how many mutants lost control of their powers or struggled with keeping them contained. Mutants lived freely now, and although many were still collected and brought to the schools, some fell through the cracks.
So now the mutants around Kalispell has to struggle with the after effects of the epidemic known as the SPRITE, along with trying to make a life for themselves as an outed mutant in the midst of a world that doesn’t seem to be able to decide whether to accept them or shun them completely.
