Hi All,
Maybe someone can help....
I created a forum in January of this year with a focus on 3d modeling, rigging, animation and design. Now I a pretty happy with the number of views. I hit the 35.000 view mark yesterday, had 30 people online at the same time and 217 people online in the last 24 hours.
Now I don't know if that is a lot but I am happy with it.
Problem is that very few people post anything. Now I know that I have a site mainly containing tutorial and industry info but still. Am I doing something wrong ?
My forum is at www.pixels-forum.com/
Thanks,
Mike

Cant think anything your doing wrong but if all site is mainly about tutorials and info is there any reason for people to post.
Also just quickly looking at your forum there is lot of boards and threads and info but doesnt seem very interactive more resource site.
Maybe think about making few boards into sub-boards (so less scrolling) taking out some unless you really thinking it is needed and adding more general talk boards for people to ask questions or share things. So a board for tutorials (maybe make some member only to get them to sign up? if they sign up they probably stick around to post), board for certain programs. Can always add more back once you get more actual members

I had a few thoughts in mind before looking at the forum, and that is what i found, for 2 out of 3 thoughts. It is a new forum, but it is set out like it has been there for a long time, and is really active. What i mean by that is that you have a lot of boards, perhaps too many, even for an established board? This can be overbearing for people in two ways. It can take a long time to find where you want to go, and also takes a lot of scrolling to get there.
The main issue, though, is that you have all of these boards, but have hardly any posts, which makes the forum look deserted. People will look at a forum, and see the posts counts, and will judge activity on what they see. If they see very few posts, they will think there isn't much content so most likely won't have what they need, and will move on to else where.
If you condensed the boards and merge similar boards together, the forum will look more active than it currently does, and will also make content easier to find. For example, if you had, say, a football related forum, instead of having a category containing a board for each team within a league, just start with having a board for the league which will contain all topics relating to the teams within that league. Then when activity goes up, and the need becomes necessary, start adding boards for each team.

I think I see the problem.
You see, there's so much information, and so little members. Maybe start small with one board? I know it'll delete a lot of posts, but it'll make your members more comfortable. Also, you should put up a suggestion board if you don't already have one. That way, your members can suggest what to add, and the website will have your needs and your members' needs. Maybe also throw in some pink or red in there, too? It's all blue, and a tad boring and plain. Add some pizzaz! Go beyond the box!
