Gaming Website layout & template help needed!!!

Hello everyone.  

I am starting a clan for one of the games I frequent with a friend. I own a website I made a few days ago found HERE but I would like to use proboards instead due to the much better forum software and editing abilities.  The weebly embeddable forum just sucks as you can see under the Community page of my current website.  I have a few questions:

1) I would like it to look as close to this as possible.  No idea, I have never tried to alter the basic forum layout on my other forums. 

2) I would like a blog like on my Home page.  Perhaps an embeddable blog? I have no idea where to start looking. 

3) How can I make a form that can be filled out like on the Enlist page? 

I know this is going to be rather hard.  Any help I can get is greatly appreciated.

Hey Mr. Undecided, I'll try to give some help.


Achieving a look similar to that of the site you linked should be possible, but it's not a simple task. You'll need someone who knows their way around designing webpages to help you out with the fine details.

There are a couple ways you might be able to put a blog on your homepage, but the first step is going to have to be creating a custom page and setting that as your homepage so you can add content to it. Just go to Admin > Structure > Custom Pages and follow the process of creating one there.

Once that's done, you can add your own HTML content manually by adding an HTML box widget (or editing the page itself in the HTML tab), or you can make blog posts as threads on the forum and then use the "Display Post" widget to show the post on the custom page blog. You could also allow people to make comments by adding a link on the custom page that leads to the thread where they can reply to the thread like normal.

For #3, there's no way to force someone to fill that out to be a member of the forum, but you should be able to have the form anyway. For that, maybe create another custom page and embed a Google Form on the page?

Hmm. Thank you, David Clark. I have played around with box widgets on my other forum. I use a displayed post there - I don't think that's really what I'm going after though. Id really like to somehow embed a blog right into the page in a proper blog format instead of people having to go to a thread. Maybe blogengine.net?

However, I hadn't thought of the google forms idea. Thanks, I'll check that out.

As for making it look even similar to the weebly site, that I think is going to be the greatest challenge.

Ok, so I'm going to bump this because I cannot find a good blog to use. I tried google blogger, but can't figure it out. Chyrp looks like I'll have to do HTML editing which I have no training in, and none which I could figure out a simple way to embed into an HTML box. Is there anything that's simple yet able to be edited completely that's embeddable?
