Hello
jayrose1, I am Sarapha, a friendly reviewer of forums. The way that I review a board is that I look it over as a guest, and write down what I see, in the order I see it. Then, I take another look, and see what details can be tweaked. I have 8+ years of experience with Proboards and its glory. Let us start
The LayoutVery generic of a gaming site. There really isn't anything that pops at me, however.
The bannerThe banner you have displayed is not an original picture, and looks like you just googled an image and stuck it in place. You are in desperate need of a graphic to use as the heading image that also shows the individuality of your page.
Extra I looked further into the image. It was taken from a New Mexico gaming site, which I'm pretty positive you are using without permission of the site. To avoid any conflict, I would make this the first thing you edit after reading this.
Category/board colorsThe green that you are using clashes heavily with the white text, especially when hovering. I would suggest maybe black text, or some sort of grey background.
Other colorsThe red color of the admin account is very blinding against that green background.
Speaking of backgrounds....The image you are using for your background has also been taken from another website, looking like you just googled an image and stuck it there without regards for a copyright. Proboards Support has a wonderful graphics request board, which I strongly suggest you visit to get a new banner and background.
So... What?At this point, I still have no idea what the premise of this site actually is. Is this a simple discussion board? Is it specifically sports games?
Spelling ErrorsThe one thing that will instantly discredit you to any potential members is spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors made by administration in important places.
In "Ask a mod""Do you need help? Well
, this is the right place to be
. jJust create a thread
, and a staff
member will get to you as soon as possible.
To create a thread
, click the button that
say says "create a thread
". It's its on in the top
coner corner."
The Rules"3. No inappropriate posting" --- This is somewhere you want to elaborate on what you mean by inappropriate posting. Do you allow swearing? To what extent are people to censor their posts?
Tournaments?I see several links to tournaments of some kind, but there is no information as to what they entail. At this moment, I've spent a half hour on the site, and I still have no idea what the site is about. Most of it looks like something done over the game console, but there isn't anything to support this. However, the rules and everything in the "Front desk" tell me it's a discussion forum. At this point, even if I was interested in looking for a gaming site, this one would have been exited out of 27 minutes ago.
Really now...This thread and
This thread are exactly the same. Despite one of the boards being named "What is gamebucks" (which really should be "What
are gamebucks"), I still have no idea what gamebucks are.
My suggestion for that entire thing is to have ONE board. "Gamebucks"
Inside that board, have two threads. "What are Gamebucks?", where you describe what gamebucks are, what they are used for, and why I should even be interested in them. You should also have, "How to get Gamebucks", where you list the various ways a member can earn said Gamebucks.
Hi...Your introductory board is... Bland. Mostly due to your introductory thread. The purpose of the introductory threads is to allow people to know about the person behind the account. To get a look into the "real" them.
That? That is not telling one single detail about you. This type of forum, you'd want to put a little bit about
you. Anyone on the site knows that you are the owner of the forum, and your actions on it will tell them that you are always busy with the site. That part, that is not
you. This introductory thread should depict things like your favorite Xbox games, why you wanted to make a forum, how your real life inter-relates to the video games you play. Hopes and ambitions for your games, games that you didn't particularly like, do you have any pets? Annoying brothers who steal the TV even though you called it to play video games on your day off? Hobbies other than gaming?
Finally...You need a name for your board, not just xboxworldgaming. Since your site focuses on the Sports related games, I would suggest something going that route, so that people know that it is
Sports games, rather than every other game that could be on the Xbox. Also, get new graphics, a new color scheme, and a better grasp of what you are writing in the informative boards. If people don't know what your site is, how do they know if they want to be part of it?
