Forum URL: mariorpg.boards.netI have a user who has requested a change to his login name. He wants to keep his display name the same but log in with a name he uses on several other sites. Is this possible? Thanks.

It's not possible to change someone's username, only display name.

Is this a feature that could be considered in the future? Because I also would kinda rather my username be my actual username instead of "admin" as well, that's a title not my name lol.
Could've sworn I could at least do this for regular members though, guess I'm wrong.

I've asked before. ProBoards won't cross that line. Never Mind every Board Owner has the login as 'admin' half the work for hackers is done I've asked before if I could make it unique and was told 'NO'

That's because the user name is unique, while the display name is not. You could conceivably have 10 members with the same display name. The only way to distinguish them from one another is the user name.
ylstang, while I get what you're saying about all forum owners having the same user name, it's very uncommon for a forum to actually be hacked. Typically they're "cracked" instead, by someone who was able to guess the admin's password. Or the admin gave them his login info.... Have a strong password and there's no problem.

Never Mind every Board Owner has the login as 'admin' half the work for hackers is done I've asked before if I could make it unique and was told 'NO' If you're concerned about someone cracking your account, in addition to the above about having a strong password, you can also visit your global account settings and force it so you can only login with your email address and password, disabling the use of the username entirely when logging in. That way, most people won't know what your email address is and would make your account more secure that way.

Thanks CheatAreZee I'm not really worried about it that much it's just my opinion I stated, I use a healthy password. But at any PB's forum every owner has the same username of admin I used the word hacked may have been a bad choice of terminology, Hacked, Cracked what ever it's all the same to me if someone gets in that is not supposed to be there. And I never share passwords with anybody on any site. And I don't use email to login as all my friends, family and everybody has my email. I wish the login name sitituation was similar to passwords, so it could be chosen, something unique that No One but myself would know and could see it

You could always change your e-mail to a private one that nobody knows, then change your profile's privacy settings to hide the e-mail from everyone except staff (which is the way it's set by default) Bütch! When I do this, I always make sure that e-mail from that address is set to forward to my primary address, so I never have to check more than one inbox when I check my e-mails.

Great idea there, I have enough emails to do that.
