wdthefoxsay.boards.netWhat Does the Fox Say is a new graphic and Web design showcase forum. Members can submit their works for critique or suggestions. Additionally, at some point I'll implement weekly and monthly contests. The name of the forum was inspired from the viral song What does the fox say?. That being said, I though it would be catchy. The overal design was inspired by a portfolio design of my own. With that in mind, the header box contains a fox painting on an easel. He's painting the title of the forum. His action is to put off the idea that the forum is related to art. So, what do you think of the name of the forum? How do you feel about the design?

First reaction to site: Oh my! So cute!
I love how you have your site set-up.
The Name: I love the play on words here. "What does the fox say?" is a great name for an opinion/creative critique forum. Especially since designers not only have to be creative, but they also have to be clever (like a fox)! Sorry, I'm just giddy about that.
The Main Banner: That picture is SO CUTE! I love it! I think it is a great draw from your forum. Also the use of the "extra space" for information really adds to it. It's like there was never any empty space at all.
The Layout: Short. Sweet. Easy to follow. I don't know what else to say. Oh! I do like your use of (I believe) Courier as the main font face. It sets your forum apart from most others. As another specific, I like your names for the categories. They aren't like what everyone else uses. I am only slightly uncertain in the use of "Airport" to categorize Rules and Support?
The Rules: Also every reasonable. Then again, you didn't ask for this so you probably already know.
Advertisement: How do you plan on getting your forum name out there? I see no place for affiliates so I'm thinking you advertise in other ways.
I hope I touched everything you hoped would be commented upon. Sorry, I didn't give more constructive criticism, but as you can probably tell, I really like your forum name and design.
Have fun and good luck!

Thank you so much for your kind words and suggestions. I am really glad that you like what I've done with it. Here are some things I want to ask as well as point out. First question: The category name, Airport, should be changed. I agree with that. Would, "Welcome Center" sound better? Pointing out: 1. The current font is Oxygen Mono, a google font. That being said, I'm thinking about changing the font to a different google font called "Roboto." The font used in the screenshot above, for my portfolio, is Roboto. What do you think of it? 2. As for Advertisement, I plan to try and advertise on forums that allow it. I have a signature ad/link in the signature area of all of my forum accounts. I've submitted my site to google and bing networks. As for affiliates, I do plan to implement an affiliate's page at some point that will be different from most sites affiliates. I want to have a minimum of 4 affiliate requests though before I make the page for it. Granted, I suppose I can put it up so that people know I'm willing to affiliate. The page itself will contain an 88X31 banner affiliate image, the title of the website/forum/blog that wants to affiliate and a 200 limit word description of the said affiliate site. I think that is better than just scrolling banners at the bottom of a page.

Thanks! Okay. First, your questions:
Airport --> Welcome Center "Welcome Center" would fit alright at least. I just think that's the thing that EVERYONE uses and it would feel like a category broader than just updates and support. What about something like "Info Center" or "Information and Life Lines"? Specific enough but a little outside the box. Like the name of your forum, I think it would be best if some of that character also stayed in the names of the categories.
If I would read "Welcome Center," I would also expect something like introductions and such to be there beyond what you already have there. Maybe that's an idea. Would you consider having an "Introductions" board for your members to introduce themselves as the professionals or hobbyists they are?
Oxygen Mono --> Roboto Hmmm... Both fonts are good and I feel each could work. I would probably personally lean towards the Oxygen Mono as it feels more creative to me. Then again, it feels more creative to me in a written type of sense rather than visual. Does that make any sense to you? Roboto feels cleaner and I think it could work well on your forum. It's not like the most common fonts but not different enough to draw away from your forum. I guess what I'm trying to say is that while I like Oxygen Mono type better, I feel Roboto would probably serve your forum better, but I would have to see it to be sure. Then again, it is your forum and fully your decision.
Haha. I just read on your forum that a member prefers your profile font type. I can see his point on it being a bit binary, but I see it more in a typewriter sense. Anyway, it is your choice ultimately and I think both work.
Advertisements Sounds like you have a plan. Personally, I am also working with an affiliates board as well as scroll table for more detailed descriptions and the easy access on the forum I'm working on. But we'll see what turns out with that one.
Anyway, I have a question. What kind of sites are you expecting to affiliate with? Simply graphic design sites or a variety is my wonder.
Last Comments What kind of members is your aim anyway? Guess, I am wondering if beginners are welcome to swing by your forum too.
I like your use of the board icons.
I also think it's great you have a guide for each critique section. Very easy to find and understandable.
Have a good one!

As that is different and unique and offers support and news/announcements? Introductions can be found in general discuss in a board called Welcome Oxygen Mono -> Roboto... The changes have been made, let me know what you think. Advertising/Affiliating: I am willing to accept affiliates of all types of forums, not just a specific niche... Members. We will welcome all members from all walks of life from beginner to advanced experience and people who have no experience nor do they want to learn. That being said, there's general discussion areas for people who just want a place to chat and if they decide to provide feedback on people's work, we welcome that. Additionally, if they decide to submit their projects for feedback we welcome that too. All types of members/users are welcome.

" Concierge Desk"? Yes! Perfect! Great idea. I like it. Now, I'll calm down a bit for you. Ah. I see that now. I hadn't noticed the Welcome board let alone Introductions area before. Cool. Oxygen Mono --> RobotoNice. I like it. Granted I like the font from before but this font gives your forum a better, more fitting feel all together. Good choice. (And I see at least one of your members likes it too!) Advertising/AffiliatingAffiliating with all types of forums is a good idea. I'm glad for it. It definitely helps people who may not even be looking for a forum like yours find it on accident. MembersAwesome! I hope your forum becomes a great success. I definitely like the concept (as well as the rest). Let me know if there's anything else you would like a specific opinion on because overall, I think you've done a great job.

Mixed I appreciate your commitment to providing feedback on my forum. There aren't a whole lot of people that take the time such like you did. You are awesome! If anyone else has any input, I'd greatly appreciate

Teg, you're making me blush! Thank you! Your appreciation is greatly appreciated (make sense?). I like helping where I can and normally that means I'm looking at details. Unfortunately, sometimes I wonder if it's worth it. But with you, it was great fun! I'm awesome? No, you're awesome! Good luck with your forum! I'll sure be curious to see how it progresses!
