Your Forum is pretty standard, its pretty straight out of the box proboards. yes you have changed colors, not the best choice IMO for a gaming forum. It looks pretty lazily done if I am to be honest. Gaming websites/forum's are supposed to immerse the viewer into a world of gaming, excitement, wonder. If I was a gamer, I wouldn't signup to your forum. It does not speak to me from a design point of view. The content is also pretty weak. The banner looks like you just slapped a few images together in 5mins, sure I can tell its a gaming forum but It does not excite me to want to join your forum. I noticed from your shoutbox comments you seem to hire staff, pretty much as a user joins your forum. That's a NO NO IMO. How can you trust people you have never meet or spoke to? Gaming is a BIG industry, you have so many competitors as well as commercial websites/forums(paid advertising/established communities) that unless you change your design and write compelling content, you really have Zero chance of gaining (targeted) followers. Under NO circumstance let this turn you away from running a gaming forum, my review is based purely on how your forum currently stands. You can change this by creating a great design and following some of the steps I provide in this thread I hope I was not too harsh, sometimes people just need to be told some hard truths. Please take what I said as constructive criticism. All the best.

You can change this by creating a great design and following some of the steps I provide in this thread I hope I was not too harsh, sometimes people just need to be told some hard truths. Please take what I said as constructive criticism. All the best. To be honest I was a bit surprised when I saw this post, but I would just like to clarify a few things, I don't hire staff as soon as they join my forum, I brought a couple members over that I know of from other forums and made them staff. I am a new forum owner ( first time running a forum ) and it hasnt even been open for 2 months yet so it's a new experience for me and a work in progress. Honestly I think the banner is great, and my members told me they like it too, however if you would have any suggestions for this I would be glad to hear them. And one more thing, I would like to know how you think it is " lazily slapped together " Because I have worked quite hard on it, it's impossible to make a sub board for every single game, so I would make a new board when I see that members want it. I appreciate your review, but I would also appreciate if you could be a bit more specific on what is wrong and what you think I should do to fix it. The forum was meant to look standard because it's about all games, not a specific game, so I can't have. Specific theme if that makes sense, but this could be improved. I understand I can't compete with official forums for games such as minecraft and clash of clans, that's not my intention to compete directly with them, maybe someday, but I can't do that yet. What I want to do right now is build up a member base that generally likes to chat about gaming and other things.

I realize my critique was a little too harsh. I was just being bluntly honest. When I said "it looked like it was lazily slapped together" I was talking about the design and not the content itself. I can see you put alot of time and energy into it.
If you would like some help with creating a design and don't think I'm too much of a douche bag after writing such a review, feel free to PM me.

Good day, mattyboo1. I thought that I first ought to mention that this is my first post and review on the ProBoards Support forum. I'm not very experienced with anything related to forums and so you ought to take my praise and criticism with a grain of salt. I hope you will understand and excuse any unprofessionalism that might occur in the following text. Oh well, everybody has to start somewhere, no? Let us begin. What I first noticed when entering your forum was your large header. After having had a look around, I think the header sums up your forum quite well. It will instantaneously give the visitor a fairly good idea of what the forum is all about. When comparing your header to one on a more popular forum, such as the Proboards Support forum, I noticed a clear difference. The ProBoards Support forum's header, for example, is of a much higher resolution. The entire thing looks more polished while the rounded corners of the letters and bright colours gives it a playful and friendly feel. Perhaps your header would look more attractive to the common person if you ran it through a program that could increase the image's resolution, like Photoshop. That being said, I think the images you've selected to be compiled on the header are very well chosen. I'm certain that they would make any gamer feel welcomed. Unlike what would be considered more professional headers, yours doesn't look standard, as a matter of fact, to me it looks like it has quite a bit of personality. It looks as though the administrator of the forum is incredibly involved with everything he does. Your involvement in each thread with regular members only confirms this belief of mine. Onto the background, it appears you have yet to put one into place. Are you planning to? I think it would give the forum a more complete feel if you put something simple and not too distracting in the background. If you are unsure of how to change your background or anything else regarding the settings, I would advise you to visit Proboards Support's Linked Help Guide Index. I also suggest you look into the Frequently Asked Questions section of Proboards Support, I know I learned quite a lot by reading through them. Next, I decided to take a look at your forum rules. The forum rules are easy to locate seeing how they're right underneath your header, which is great. Something that took me aback was the post's poor grammar. For example, some letters appear to be randomly capitalized, you seem to have forgotten to put periods after a couple of sentences and there is an excessive amount of commas spread throughout the text like confetti. Perfect spelling and grammar is not a necessity, however, it usually makes a text more easy to read and it is more likely to be taken seriously which is especially important in this particular section of your forum. Yes, I think it would be best to correct your grammatical mistakes in this post. Here's how I would have done it. I removed text I felt was redundant and added some text that I thought you might like. These are just my personal preferences and suggestions. The most important thing is to have fun when you're creating a forum. I think there are even more improvement that could be made, but I'm afraid I've run out of time. I hope this was helpful to you in some small way. Have a lovely day!
