This explains it. We were under the impression the plugin would prompt bubble notifications. Many thanks.

I have enabled this plugin but no one is getting notifications on any browser, is there something special I am supposed to do other than enabling it on all themes and allowing usage for "everyone"? There isn't any tab or anything to indicate it's even enabled on the SB so how do I know if it is?

It's strange since it has the toolbar option of tagging members, but without notifications it really isn't necessary to tag them when we can just write out their names. I've looked everywhere and tried everything I could think of, and have come to accept that it simply is not part of the package. Having said that, I love the shoutbox, itself, and it has been very popular with members, most of whom seem to check it often enough to notice new shouts. It's great for older aged members too, who are unsure at first on how to post on the forum, as a way to get the attention of my mods and me to help them as needed, but also has been an added, fun way ro communicate for everyone.

Are either of you allowing your browser to send notifications? This is not a bubble notification (like what you see above Profile), it's a browser notification. On Chrome (not sure on other browsers), click the padlock to the left of the forum URL (in the address bar) and Allow notifications. If you don't know how to turn on browser notifications, check out Ulises's post here: support.proboards.com/post/7045048/thread

frootloop, Have you tried tagging yourself in the shoutbox? If you're the forum owner, try tagging yourself by using @admin - it worked on my forum.

I really was looking for bubble notifications, that work like the standard forum notifications so I don't have to explain browser settings to my members. But, trying it anyways, I did change my Chrome settings to allow notifications on my forum's web address, and I then tagged myself, and had another member tag me as well. Nothing showed up. The plugin is enabled and my Chrome is up to date.

The notification doesn't stay for an extended period of time - it on stayed displayed for about 5 seconds for me. So, if one isn't looking in the right place, it could be missed (I missed it first time I tried it).

So, if one isn't looking in the right place, it could be missed (I missed it first time I tried it). I've looked all over the screen, and also sat back further so I could watch for a notification no matter where it popped up. I wish I could say it's working for me, since I know that would be helpful for some even though it's not an ideal solution for me. Maybe it's something I'm missing in my Chrome settings, though I set everything just as suggested. What I really need (and I understand that there is no plugin for it at this time) is to be alerted to shoutbox tags as soon as I login (preferably as a bubble notificaton), and not just if I'm already logged in (and that goes for other members, too, especially those who aren't around as much and haven't gotten in the habit of checking the shoutbox). Thanks for your help in trying, though. I appreciate it.
