Hi, PSR. Can you go into more detail about this? In what way are they being forced to download Flash? Is there a message where the ads would normally be saying that they need the plugin to see them or are they being redirected to a page without clicking on anything?

Is there a message where the ads would normally be saying that they need the plugin to see them or are they being redirected to a page without clicking on anything? Let me ask for more details and ill get back to you. One of my members said this... "Flashplayer tries to download about every time I come in. It just starts to initialize and download and I have to stop it." 2 others have said the exact same thing to me privately. "anyone else getting an issue with this site trying to force a download of "Flashplayer.exe" from a fake adobe site on Chrome?" one member responded with "Yes, but only from my Frontier ISP connection, I haven't seen it when I use my Charter connection."

It sounds like it could very well be a malicious ad in the rotation causing it. The next time they experience this issue can you have them note the time it happened, then have them report the ad on this page that's listed as having been received at that same time? ads.proboards.com/ad-report.htmlOnce that's complete we'll receive the report on our end and be able to note exactly which advertiser is causing the issue (since their information is sent with the report), after which we can block them from the ad rotation. If you're having trouble clicking on the above link you may need to disable your ad blocker first. That's the only instance I've been able to duplicate the problem where the tab opens and then immediately closing.

I would also like to ask you to please not use ad-block. Advertisements are how we pay for the free forum that you enjoy!

I've seen an ad before that redirects you to download flash, it was a while ago though.

I checked the ads shown in the report and wasn't able to reproduce it using the same browser and operating system they're currently on.
Just so I can try to narrow it down a bit can you let me know where they're connecting from geographically? I want to see if viewing the same ad from a connection in that area produces different results.

So ive been pretty good about supporting PB. Well, if you have AdBlock Plus with Firefox and you aren't exactly comfortable in disabling it everywhere, then you can go into the filters for ABP and add the following filters to it for here. @@||*.boards.net^$document @@||*.freeforums.net^$document @@||*.proboards.com^$document What these filters will do, is tell ABP to be disabled while on ProBoards and allow ads to be viewed here. It will also allow the ad reporting form to load properly without the tab appearing and then disappearing a split second later happening. That way, you will be supporting the free forum that you enjoy and can report ads if they are causing bad experiences for you here.
