1. have you tried in private mode? 2. try different browser 3. clear cache in your browser 1. Works, oddly enough. 2. Default Chrome, tried Firefox, worked. 3. Had actually tried that before posting, does NOT work. 4. Disable AdBlock. Does NOT work.

Check your add-ons/extensions on Chrome to see if there's anything there you don't recognize. If not, try disabling them, one at a time, until you find the culprit. Sounds like something there might be causing the problem. Also, try clearing your cookies.

thestickThe Edit User Profile layout template appears to have quite a bit of customization to it and parts are commented out and other parts look to be coded incorrectly. Most likely it's this later part this is the issue. Not sure who was working on this template or if it's still a work in progress. You might want to confer with the root admin? or if you want we can help you sort this out. Just let us know.

You might want to confer with the root admin? or if you want we can help you sort this out. Just let us know. I am actually the root admin for this forum. I appointed Stick to work on the coding because I honestly don't know CSS or HTML well at all, but Stick actually has half an idea what he is doing. We were trying to move a field up on the personal section of the edit profile page to a spot that was more logical. The change worked, however, Stick is the only user that is having an issue in our small community so far. We're not in any rush since I have a lot of work to do myself before I begin recruiting, but if Stick cannot check the effects of his work himself, we won't be able to make much progress on that front. The commented out section was apparently throwing errors, from what I was told. I also am accessing the board via Chrome but with no problems, so I am unsure what is different with Stick's build & plug-ins/addons.

thestick - try it now and see if you can edit your profile. I tested and was able to make changes and have them saved.

I just now tested with my typical configuration (no extensions enabled, though AdBlocker is keeping itself off of the board), no change. I changed each field, no difference at all. I'd also like to point out that when I first posted the issue, the template was in its default state (as in, the same state it appears when clicking the "reset template" button. The additional JavaScript code that appears in the template was written by me, and has no effect on this issue - as Aiuner points out, I'm the only one having an issue and her edits still go through. Currently going through my extension list and seeing which ones might be causing the issue. EDIT 3 minutes later: Found the problem extension - Avast Passwords, auto-installed by the Avast Antivirus application I have protecting my computer.

thestick thanks for posting that. Does that extension store saved passwords, or does it perform some other function? The modify profile page doesn't have a password on it, so wandering what may have caused the issue there.

thestick thanks for posting that. Does that extension store saved passwords, or does it perform some other function? The modify profile page doesn't have a password on it, so wondering what may have caused the issue there. Apologies for the late reply; I assumed the issue was resolved. [mayNotBeCorrectAddSalt]Avast provides a more secure database, by requesting that you utilize a completely unrelated password to lock the database. This password must be entered to do anything in relation to it, including viewing entry count, viewing what entries exist, and most importantly viewing what the passwords are. Additionally, this password database is housed in a completely separate program. The extension is a hook that allows Chrome to access the password database stored by Avast. As Chrome's built-in password database is less-than-secure (it requires the password you use to log into the machine to authenticate), anyone with physical access to the machine and knows the password for the machine itself can view your passwords. Instead, the extension simply queries the database kept by Avast (after authenticating via the masterpass), letting Avast feed a password instead of Chrome filling it in itself. [/mayNotBeCorrectAddSalt]
The password functionality provided by Avast also includes password generation and allows for an overall audit of your passwords, letting you know about weak or reused passwords in your repertoire. As for why the Avast password extension is tampering with the field, your guess is as good as mine. Might even be better.

Sorry about that, yes, it was resolved, i was just curious as to why it would be affecting the edit profile page, when there is not a password entry there. There is a 'password' link, linking to the account settings on a different page, so it may be because of that. One can only suppose. But it is interesting to note for if someone else posts a similar issue in the future, so thanks for posting back

I don't know if anyone on the staff has Avast with which to test if that would let it work. Additionally, I wouldn't know how easily one could detect if a certain extension is installed, and invisibly change the submission behavior of the various forms if certain uncooperative (read: Avast Passwords) are found.

I'm not personally familiar with any browser extensions that come with Avast, nor would I know how to circumvent any changes the extension makes. Sorry!
