Yes, I am aware of the current thread description plugin.
However, those of us with customised thread list templates are struggling to use said plugin because we cannot customise the thread description's location, which means that any drastically altered templates are stuck with having the description immediately under the thread title, regardless of how the template is structured. It is also locked, so no one can enter the build component of the plugin to change how the description is inserted.
My request would be a similar plugin, but with a configurable <div class="thread-description"></div> so that the user can select where in their template to place the plugin.

Hahaha you beat me to it! Throwing my vote in for this plugin as well :) For whatever it's worth I've got a really hacky work around. I don't know if it'll help you, but this is what I wound up doing:
.thread_description { margin-top: 22px!important; z-index: 999!important; position: absolute; padding: 0!important; }
And I wound up adjusting the margin to fit (and used some template styling to make sure that only the boards the plugin was enabled in were affected). It's not very elegant but until the plugin replacement is made it might work for you.

Currently it doesn't show at all, I must've removed some default class the plugin looks for or something I'm not sure, so I'll have to wait for a new plugin. But I appreciate the attempted assistance!

Can you post a link to the plugin Kami ? I'll take a look, see what it does exactly and reproduce it with config options.

Hey :)
That plugin does not seem to be rendering anything or outputting anything to the console(even on default theme).
Can you just describe it's behavior and I can work from that ?

Sure! You can see it in action here: theavatarrp.com/board/71/republic-cityWhen creating a thread, a second field with a placeholder description appears under the thread title field. Via plugin settings this can be a mandatory field or not. Whatever is inputted in this field is then displayed on the thread listing.

Just out of curiosity, whats it for? Is this for SEO purposes? I only ask because the first 150/160 characters of the first post are used as meta descriptions, ie: <meta name='description' /> and the Open graph(og:description) for social media so regardless of adding a thread meta description, it would only be cosmetic. I can still create it if you want, but it wouldn't add any other value other than cosmetic I was thinking a while back of doing something similar(a description field) but it would just embed the description into the post itself(and not store it) but wrapped in a tag so google would only pick up those 160 characters as descriptions.

I do not know what other people use it for, but my purpose is aesthetic only. It just tells the viewer what characters are participating in the RP thread, or if the thread is open to all to play in.
I have no need for it to be SEO anything it's just a tracker for our players (:

No worries, i'll write out a plugin for you then, what sort of config you want/need ? Thank you!! Config: 1. Choose affected boards 2. Have it in a div that i can move around and place anywhere in the thread listing template 3. Require users to fill it out before their post will complete 4. A CSS class or id i can target 5. customisable placeholder text that disappears when the user starts typing 6. field should only appear on new thread creation I hope that covers it (:
