unable to get plugin to work

Greetings:
              This will be my last attempt to try and fix this problem. My problem is with Category Image plug in #228
I have spoken to both Scott & Craig and both have kindly given me specific instructions on how this plug in needs to be used.
I have executed there instructions to the letter &still this plugin fails~I used tiny pick to upload the direct link w/ the image at 30x30 size. below is a attachment of what i receive each time i use the plugin, any help or suggestions before i give up on this venture. I thank the staff very much for all there help with this problem ~

I see things that are off with this.
You have category 7 and 34 listed but I'm assuming those are only visible by admin cause I can't see them. Your picture shows an animated gif tiled across.
That really doesn't say what is not working. When I opened the image link it said the hotlink was a .jpg file not a .gif. Even though it has an animated preview. 
How does the plugin fail?

First sir may i thank you very much for your help in this matter~After reading your post i went back into the forum,Created a new category called " New Members ", i then went to find a stock image of a Welcome sign, using the direct image format ,I inserted it to the Plug in, saved it and it now shows on the forum Category multiple times . i Stopped here so you could have a chance to see what actually going on. I look forward to hearing from you sir. The 2 categories you mentioned that you could not see, I am not sure what your referring to.

The multiple times is related to the default css of backgrounds. It's not governed by the plugin. So the plugin does work correctly.
If you want to change your css you could add a style to your global header in the admin settings.


<style>.title-bar{background-size:100% 100%;}</style>
to stretch OR


<style>.title-bar{background-repeat:no-repeat;}</style>


to make it show only once

There are other things you can do with css as well

oh my good gosh here, first may i apologize for insinuating the fault lied in the plug in ~ I see i was barking up the wrong tree.Glad you younger guys are around to keep us older ones in check~ I will execute your instructions to the letter and let you know how it went sir and thank you very much for this.

ok sir, i used the second style you gave me and it inserted clean into the global header~ I erased the new members category Plus all previous attempts in the plug in~ Then re-created the category " New members" Got a clean direct url link for a image and inserted it in the category image plug in~ it is still repeating itself 8 times even with the style code in place~ I will stop here until you have the time to look at this again~ I remain,Chipper

It seems that there is another css style fighting to make the title bar repeat.
So this will specify category 43, which is the category you have selected under settings, and force no repeat with the important flag.
The only problem is that now you are specifying each category specifically which is probably too advanced for people who don't know css.
I would recommend in that case you should tag the author in the support thread and ask them if they could add a selection to their plugin for the option to specify repeat. This would be the easiest course of action.
Otherwise you could set up your plugin categories that you want and I can whip up a special code like this, including all the category id's that you need. The downfall would be hopefully you wouldn't need to set up another category in the future, which would require modifying this code.

ok sir, i am a 67 year old gent that built this site at my wife's request. we have 4-6 friends from across the u.s.a & England. The idea here was to be able to connect us together here and be able to chat and have a grand time chatting here and sharing pictures and such. this would save us very much on the phone bill.after speaking to my wife in regards to your reply it would be very rude of us to have you ( a volunteer i will presume) to go through all the trouble of adding style code to all 17 of our categories with no promise we would not add another category in the future. I am humbled and proboards should be proud to have a person like you on board. Perhaps my situation here could be considered when proboards upgrades to it's next version. i will withdraw my request here as we can operate quite well without having category images. I thank you for all your hard work,your a very talented young man.
