Hi, I think I'm posting in the right place. I've had a search around different parts of the forum and can't find where someone has asked something like this.
My forum in particular has a high number of mobile users, and it makes use of the Sidebar Redux plugin to keep users informed on little things that aren't big announcements. The thing is, this plugin, and another table plugin I was thinking of switching to, don't show on mobile.
My question: is there a way to insert some kind of container/table/box-notice in the Global Header (or where the header would show on the forum) that will show to, and only to, mobile users to tell them it's best to request the desktop version? Sooooo many people are missing that they need to request the desktop version, and just assume the mobile version is all the forum actually is, so it's been causing a few problems.
Otherwise, is there a setting in the forum or a plugin to disable the mobile version altogether? I'm not a fan of this option but if there's no other alternative, I'm happy to as it'll solve more problems than it would cause. Thanks!!

Hi Bluesonic1With the current v5 software, plugins do not work in mobile view. Once the new v6 version comes online with its responsive design, then the plugins will work in mobile view. Also you are not able to edit the mobile view at this time.

@bluesonic1k, I have a work around solution for you that should work for your needs. Unfortunately I'm running out the door and so will post this tomorrow when I'm back in the office.

Bluesonic1 (& Nscalerr 🐺 ), here ya go... 1. Go to Admin > Structure > Categories & Boards. 2. Click "Create New Category" and give it the name "Attn Mobile Users", (without the quotes) then click the Create Category button. 3. Make sure this is the first category of your forum. (Re-position if necessary) 4. Next click the "Create New Board" and on the Location tab select the category Attn Mobile Users to insert the board. 5. Click the About tab and enter 'Dear Members' for the "Name" field and in the "Display Name" field put this: Don't miss all the great features of this forum. Switch to the desktop view You can change the message in Step 5 to your own wording, but I recommend keeping it short and you'll see why in the sample image below.5. On the Settings tab, change Show Announcements to 'No' and Disable Posting to 'Yes'., then click the Create Board button. 6. Next go to Structure > Headers & Footers, Global Header & Footer. 7. In the Header put this code: <script>$(document).ready(function () { $( "div:contains('Attn Mobile Users')" ).closest('.container.boards').hide(); });</script>
8. Save Changes and you're done. Finished product.Desktop viewers see this: And mobile users will see this: May not be the overall best solution, but it works within the confines of what is available.

Sorry for the late reply on this, work got the better of me! Thanks Nscalerr 🐺 for the extra information, wasn't aware this was coming out in the next update. Looking forward to it Scott : You are a LEGEND, thank you!! Just implemented it and it works like a charm I can definitely live with this until new features are released, it blends in very well, particularly with the current theme I have installed. Thanks again!!
