There has been a significant number of changes happening behind the scenes and while most of them have nothing visible to show off, some of them are and they can be tried out today! Embedding Google Drive™ When using the v5 WYSIWYG, check under the Social Embeds button. You will find a new icon that should look familiar to many of you.
Starting right now, you can embed any document, spreadsheet, form or presentation hosted on the Google Drive service. These embeds can be static or even interactable, if the publisher of the document allows that. Follow the instructions in the embed window and you too can embed your documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and forms.
New Admin Feature: Experiments Moving onwards with the development of our software there will be times where certain features are not quite yet ready for everyone to use, are too limited in scope in such a way that not everyone can benefit from it, or simply come with some caveats. Generally we tend to avoid situations like these, but other times, these changes would be quite welcome by the community. To get some of these super-powerful features in your hands sooner rather than later, we’re introducing Experiments. This section of the admin panel is visible only to the main admin. It includes certain features that we are still testing, or features that might break the experience in one way or another. Think of it as beta testing a very limited set of functionalities on your forum. These features might have a drastic effect on your forum, so think carefully before enabling them! The very first feature to make an appearance in this section is one requested for a very long time. We’ve finally made the necessary adjustments in our software that allow us to offer the ability to disable mobile mode in v5 and bring the desktop mode to everyone who visits your forum, regardless of their device. I would like to urge everyone to exercise extreme caution using this feature. Most v5 themes are not designed to work on a very small screen and as a result, you might end up upsetting your users, rather than bringing new functionality to them. There are many people who are extremely data-usage conscious. The mobile view uses far less data than the desktop mode and turning off the mobile view will force these users to reconsider how they spend their data allowances. Frequently Asked Questions What types of documents can I embed using the new Google Drive embedding? Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations and Forms. Who can access the Experiments section in the admin panel? Only the main admin. Where can I find the Experiments section in the admin panel? The main admin can find “Experiments” in the top menu of the admin panel under “Upgrades”. What about v6? V6 is still a work in progress. We will have more information to share in the coming weeks.

Great update! So happy we can disable mobile mode but I think I've found a few interface bugs in the acp, where would be best to mention them

This is a neat feature! Right now for one of our places we use a separate google spreadsheet to keep track of threads that need to be modded so this would be awesome cause then no one would need to leave the site to view/edit it, and it'd keep the document away from member hands [possibly] a bit better.
Unfortunately our main admin has been swamped for ages and only rarely comes by once in a blue moon, so we can't test it out ^^; But still super excited for this!

Nori , the Embed Google Drive should be available to all who are able to create threads/post replies. You can use this now. In the wysiwyg editor click the embed button: Only the Experiments feature require Admin intervention, and currently the only 'experiment' that's available is the disable mobile mode.

Would have loved to tinker with the skins (color scheme) for mobile view, but I'll take it! YAY for Drive docs!!! The mobile version should inherit any colors you've specified in Themes > Colors & Theme Creator > Customize Theme Colors. But with this change any responsive themes made for v5 can finally fulfill their purpose and give you a desktop theme that transforms its appearance for mobile devices without users having to switch to the desktop version. I think only a handful of themes like this exist in the wild (primarily due to the fact that v5 has a mobile view) but were either designed for specific forums or are only available for members of design communities so they're unlikely to be found in the library.

Got it. Well, due to modifications, like, "Border Around The Forum", I sort of have 2 backgrounds! So you want your forum to look pretty similar, in terms of color scheme, from one area to the next. But I suppose I can partner with a teaching designer who might have these available to show me how. I'll try a Google search before I start bothering folks LOL Thank you for that heads up!

OH goodness. I'm going to throw myself out there to say how confused this all sounds to me. However, I'm going to try. This has nothing to do with the admin panel and everything to do with making a post.
I've dealt with documents such as Word or Excel. I know they don't transfer properly to a post if I wanted to copy it to a post.
Are you saying, if it were a Google document of some kind, I could embed it by using this triangle thingy on my post to get it to show up properly?
I am just wanting to make sure I'm reading all of this correctly.
